I am so proud of them for their care and rescue of animals that don't have a voice. Yes they are a horse rescue, but they also care for dogs, cats, chickens, sheep, and even a squirrel. They do an amazing job.
I've been a supporter of Hanaeleh Horse Rescue for many years. They do great work for the horses, are all volunteers and 100% of monies donated go toward care for the horses.
I’ve been volunteering at Hanaeleh since Feb 2022 and it’s been a great experience. I look forward to going every week. Great leaders and volunteers!
I have been volunteering at Hanaeleh going on 5 years this November.
The horses well being always comes first in every decision & action. To witness & participate in the rehabilitation of a horse's physical well being & for some horses, rebuilding
emotional connection with humans takes time, energy, patience, courage, funds, wisdom, & is a reciprocal lesson which gifts both horses & humans. It's amazing to experience horses capacities to heal, relearn trust with humans, & work through the traumas that some have experienced. I personally have even more respect for horses because of my experiences at Hanaeleh....horses are incredible teachers.
The quality of care, attention, time, & experience that Elizabeth Zarkos gives all of the horses is admirable and comes from heart. All volunteers show up rain or shine because we choose to. The training I have received at Hanaeleh, by being a volunteer, has been top quality, enlightening, always about safety for horses & humans, & very hands on & practical. Hanaeleh is a gift for horses & humans.
Hanaeleh takes in horses in crisis, and gets the word out about other horses that need rehomed immediately. When someone has a problem with their own horse, Elizabeth Zarkos of Hanaeleh will go observe the horse and make suggestions about changes the owner can make to work better with it.
When my new horse was terrified, and trying to break out of his stall, Elizabeth came and spent hours helping to calm him, and me.
Hanaeleh is a great asset to not only my community, but to any horse brought to their attention that needs help. They take horses that are in extremely poor condition, emotionally and physically, and give them a wonderful rest of their life - whether in a new home, or as a permanent Hanaeleh resident.
My Name is Dave Seroski and my horse is Ted. I have personally seen the work and dedication of Elizabeth and her many dedicated volunteers to these wonderful creatures. Starved, beat, left to die with out hope. Even being allowed to past with comfort and dignity. Taking no chance cases and allowing them to live there lives out on her ranch, on her dime. Offering horse care advice at no cost to the community. Do Not pass by this. Donate, Visit, Learn.
This organization is entirely voluntary and the work they do to help these horses is amazing.
Each of these horses have suffered a lot of abuse and many are too damaged or frightened to ever be adopted. These horses find a permanent home at Hanaeleh, where they are loved and well taken care of. Others go thru a period of rehab and are then released to a new home with loving caregivers. I was very impressed with this organization.
Thanks and gratitude to the dedicated folks at Hanaeleh for all the hard work, love and care they give to these beautiful horses. Nurturing them back to better health, Hanaeleh gives these sweet animals a second chance at a decent, happy life. I’m honored to support them!
Hanaeleh is the greatest asset for rescue horses in Orange County, CA. Not only is Hanaeleh GFAS verified, but they go above and beyond even that high standard in their everyday operations. If they do not have the space to take the horse in, they will freely network the animal in order to find the right foster/forever home. The founder is a vast wealth of knowledge when it comes to caring for the animals of the rescue. Elizabeth was always open to a phone call or text message when I had a question regarding my own mare I had adopted from this glorious place.
Hanaeleh genuinely cares for welfare of equines across the country. They do a wonderful job of not only caring for the horses at the rescue, but also advocating for both domesticated and wild horses. I have been a volunteer since 2016 and they have taught me an incredible amount regarding both equine husbandry and the larger issues surrounding animal wellbeing and rescue work. They do an incredible amount with the resources that they are given. It has been incredibly rewarding to volunteer and see rescued horses be rehabilitated and placed into new forever homes.
Hanaeleh is the most wonderful horse sanctuary. The owner is amazing. The volunteers are caring and generous. So many horses’ lives have been saved because of Hanaeleh. Please visit if you get the chance.
Hanaeleh is simply one of the best and most conscientious horse rescues out there. Can’t say enough about this wonderful group!
As a regular volunteer this place is amazing. They truly care for the horses there and the compassion for what they are doing is evident in the way the horses are cared and loved. If you have ever wanted to get to know these amazing animals I cannot recommend volunteering enough!!
My family volunteers with Hanaeleh whenever we can, especially when weekend work days are available at the stables. Hanaelah's staff and cadre of dedicated full-time volunteers LOVE these horses with their whole hearts--and their enthusiasm and concern for these creatures is evident and catching to everyone that gets to set foot on the grounds. Hanaelah truly lives its mission of rehabilitating horses coming from unfortunate circumstances, and finding them forever homes.
I love volunteering and donating my time to an organization that truly lives it's mission and values. Happier healthier horses live here and they teach us too! Hanaeleh is definitely a place to give back and grow.
This is a very special place. I see the work that they do and have spent time visiting the facility and have only awesome things to say. The team at Hanaeleh works so well together and their hard work pays off in saving the lives of horses. They not only are on the front line fighting the good fight, but they avail themselves to bigger issues like saving the wild horses of the West. Bravo to these advocates for such awesome, majestic animals. I'm adding some photos from their fundraiser, which was so exciting. Everyone got to see what they do and the horses got to show off too.
Hanaeleh is heaven for horses. They are 100% volunteer so every penny goes for the horses' care. They have an open house every month where you can visit and hear all about each horse's journey to Hanaeleh. Every horse is so well-cared for! It's a great cause and I happily donate to help them continue their work.
