Halo is a great animal rescue. They are a no kill shelter and have a great mission. I am an active volunteer and love going in to help with taking care of the animals. The staff here is so very friendly and helpful and it's great to be a part of helping all of these animals find their forever homes!

I've been a volunteer (dog socializer and adoption counselor) and donor/Halo Angel since 2017 and it has been one of the most rewarding experiences of my life! The dedication of the staff towards the shelter animals and their efforts to get them adopted are truly inspiring. It's one of those rare non-profits that you want to do more and more for..so I started fostering too and hope to continue supporting them in any way I can!

I’ve been fostering for HALO Animal Rescue for four months now and couldn’t ask for a more rewarding experience. The joy I get from the unconditional love is indescribable. Working with this no-kill shelter makes it easier to give these babies back knowing they will end up in a loving home. The Volunteer Department at HALO is the best! They are there for us fosters day and night to answer any questions we may have. I can’t ask for a better rescue to work with and help save lives.

I love being a HALO volunteer! The organization is extremely motivated and dedicated to helping animals receive the best care and in setting them on a path to their forever homes. I have been both a volunteer with HALO and have also adopted two little dogs from them and have been so happy to have been connected with this organization. I can say with first-hand experience that supporting this agency is a great way to support animal care and welfare. Thank you HALO for all that you do for the community!

I love volunteering and fostering with Halo. The staff are knowledgeable and willing to teach. The Foster/Volunteer leaders are so informative. I have felt like part of the team since day one. I love that I can make my own schedule and I don’t have to commit to a time period. I can start up and stop depending on my schedule. We have also adopted pets from Halo and staff has always been professional. While cleaning kennels for both dogs and cats I was able to see first hand the wonderful care the staff gave to all the animals. I am always greeted by a smiling face when I walk in the front door.

I volunteer for Halo. They save many dogs and cats and work tirelessly to get them adopted out. The employees do a very physically demanding job every day, and care about each unique animal, their medications, illnesses, special foods, fostering. So many people ask them so many questions and they are patient and helpful answering them. Because of them, other shelters started making themselves more visible. Halo has a knack for PR and getting the dogs and cats visible at events.

This organization picks and chooses which people it will value and not value and this extends to the animals as well. They treat many of their wonderful selfless volunteers like they are idiots and have no knowledge of animals. It is truly unfortunate how they treat people. They also will adopt out sick animals who ultimately die just months or even weeks later and show zero care or concern for the families who’ve adopted these sick animals. I do not support this organization and believe there are better ones out there.

I recently adopted a cat from Halo and the experience was definitely subpar. The facility did not feel clean and while I don't typically suffer from allergies it was difficult to breathe due to the air quality at their Bell Rd facility. The staff were helpful enough at first and got me through the paperwork without an issue. However, it wasn't until after I signed all the paperwork they told me the cat was on a special medical food. They provided a bag but neglected to tell me how long he needed to be on it, or that I needed a prescription from a vet (which they did not/could not provide). I did not find that out until I tried purchasing additional food from the store that I needed the prescription. They also forgot to give me the medication the cat was on for a minor case of kennel cough, so I had to make a trip back to the facility to pick it up. They also assured me the cat was full grown but he was still a kitten, which I was not expecting. They seemed very disorganized and just trying to move animals quickly rather than make sure they wound up in the correct home. I wouldn't adopt an animal from them again or recommend them.

So I vent to Pima animal care control here in Tucson to see 4 Border Collies for adoption. The Pacc's policy is after 3 days the pups are released for adoption. But before I had a chance Halo from Phoenix came down here to Tucson and picked them up. I am thinking these "rescues" are big businesses. Some of them have an adoption fee of $600.00. For that kind of money I can get a dog from a Breeder.

Very disorganized. Not adopter friendly. Hold dogs hostage and takes the nicest dogs from county, then triples the price. Won't even let people with proof have their own dogs back. Very bad process. All I wanted to do was adopt a specific dog and they've made it so difficult that even if he becomes available, I doubt I'll go to them. Real dog people know how bad they are....

One week ago we adopted our new family member from HALO...a four year old llasa mix. We already love her and are grateful that HALO took her in from another agency where she was on the list to be euthanized. HALO Staff member/Jared helped with our introduction and answered many questions, HALO Staff member Ashley emailed the website pictures of our dog to us which showed her with long hair before she was shaved. Thank you to HALO and their Staff for your work on your mission.

Over the last nine years, I have adopted two dogs from HALO. Amos (foster name Rambo), now eight, was adopted as a puppy at a Petsmart after finding his picture online, and Louie, now about 2 1/2, as an adult from their 35th Avenue shelter. I was treated kindly and allowed to visit that shelter multiple times until Louie (then Doogly) and I were finally there on the same day. I knew they would make great brothers, and was allowed to adopt Louie without bringing Amos, who gets car sick, for a meet-and-greet, required by other shelters. I cannot imagine where my boys would be now if HALO had not been created to fill the role of halfway house for pets that might otherwise be euthanized. They are my first choice when I have room for a new addition!

We adopted our Doberman mix Ralph from HALO in January 2012. We were impressed with the shelter and personnel. animals were very well taken care of, and Ralph was happy and got along well with our other dog in the play area. We took Ralph home with us that day, and he and Precious are best buddies now! Fortunately Ralph finding his 'fur-ever' home with us meant that another dog could take his place in the kennel and be adopted too. Great group!

I adopted my cat Abby, just over 2 years ago from Halo. Halo takes in animals that are in jeopardy of euthanasia, and Abby was one of them. I could not imagine my life without her. Thank you Halo for giving animals a second chance for a home. I am very grateful for what you do.

I have been working with Halo in honor of my dog that passed away in June. Everyone at Halo truly loves what they are doing and all the dogs and cats are so lucky to have such caring people watching over them. I only wish I had more time and funds to donate.

I have advocated for HALO for more than a year. Their treatment of animals and dedication to their welfare, along with educating the public and improving human-animal interactions overall is a model all such organizations would do well to follow.

I appreciate HALO for many reasons, for my beloved adopted pet from 2004, for the kindness of the Volunteers for answering my questions on my rescued kitten, and for the fast and quick assistance getting him adopted this last summer 2012. About 10 days after he was delivered to HALO, he was adopted in his new permanent home, and I am forever thankful to HALO for their understanding of how much I cared for this rescued kitten, it meant the world to me.

I adopted a special needs Chihuahua from HALO Animal Rescue 3 years ago. When Wally came into my life, he stirred something inside of me, and I became interested in saving Chihuahuas. Since then, I have helped HALO with mamas with puppies, puppies without mamas, and other Chihuahuas with special needs. I can't imagine not helping these animals!

Halo is an excellent organization. I first found out about Halo last July when I adopted my little Ari Gold (named Ferrari at the time). He has added so much joy to our lives. After learning more about Halo, I myself became a volunteer and truly fell in love. I wish I hadn't moved to the east valley so I could spend much more time there. It truly is the best!

HALO is a great organization! They work tirelessly for the benefit of their shelter animals. You can tell their employees/volunteers have such a heart for what they do. It really makes an impression on potential adopters and/or the public. I have adopted two pets from HALO personally, and always recommend them to friends and family. Thank you HALO for helping to make a difference in the lives of the shelter cats and dogs!

I was lucky to adopt my dog Skippy Jean from HALO 5 years ago. What a wonderful organization! The puppy was healthy and well cared for. Knowing the animals won't be put down is comforting. I can't imagine my life without my little Skippy Jean. When I'm ready to adopt again I'll definitely go to HALO.

I was was fortunate to adopt my dog from Halo on Camelback. Its been a few years and I still feel that the staff were very accomadating and help me pick the dog which was right for me. They were informative about the dog and knew alot about her telling me they get to know and care for the pups who are in their care! As always thank you for doing a job that most people cant and doing it so well!

I was searching for an addition to my 4-cat household and became infatuated with a kitty I saw online that available at Halo Animal Rescue. Unfortunately, the little guy had a severe upper respiratory infection and was still being treated. I met the other available kitties there and found a huge, friendly orange and white cat f/k/a Ocean that Halo had rescued from another agency. I adopted the big sweet boy, and he fits in perfectly with my other cats and birds. He's the only one of my cats that seems to enjoy riding in the car. I'm so glad he was rescued from another facility's euthanasia list by Halo and is now living a spoiled life with me.

When we adopted our dog Gigi at a PetSmart adoption event, we were so impressed by Halo's volunteers. They quizzed us carefully about the type of home we'd be bringing Gigi into, and it was good to know how committed they were to making sure she would be safe and happy. All the dogs at the event were clean and well cared for. I was interested in the operation itself, so I became a Facebook fan. What I've discovered is a professional yet incredibly warm and caring shelter that truly goes above and beyond the minimum care. These people love animals as much as we do, and we'll never go anywhere else to adopt a pet.

My mom and I went to a Pet Adoption Expo put on by Petsmart and Halo was there. We saw a woman walking around with this cute little dog and that is how we got Nikko. Two years later and the people at Halo still remember Nikko who we now call Nikki. He is a jack russel chihuahua mix and is now about going on 5 years old. He was the best investment we've ever made. Halo is a wonderful organization. My sister about a year ago adopted her dog Buddy from them and has never been happier. He is a real sweet dog. Thank you Halo! You guys rock!

Hello everyone! My kids and I adopted "Stoli" who we renamed Roo back in June and I must say he is the most wonderful little guy!!! He had been rescued from another shelter that was going to put him down because of kennel cough. He had been at Halo for a few months before we adopted him. I fell in love with him online just from his pictures!! When we went to meet him we knew that he was the dog for us. He is so wonderful! I can't even begin to tell you how much we love him and how much he loves us!!! He loves to play fetch, loves other dogs, loves to play and loves to cuddle up next to us. He is so great with both my little girls! I couldn't have asked for a better dog!! I actually got to meet the lady that started Halo with her daughter at the HALO Thrift Boutique. I love the cause and how much the people at Halo care!!! This was the best adoption experience we've ever had! I work for an apartment community in North Phoenix and we always recommend Halo to the residents that plan to adopt a pet.

One month ago, Jack came home with us from a HALO adoption event. The staff and volunteers were so helpful even though it was very busy! We wanted to be sure we brought home a dog that would get along with our two cats so we had a challenge. We saw Jack right away. We wanted to meet him so a HALO staff member brought him to us. When we explained how important it was to our family that Jack get along with cats, she completely hooked us up. She said, "We're just going to go over to the cat adoption area and have him meet some cats." Uhhh...freels? This girl was awesome. We marched Jack right into the cat area and he didn't even flinch. Then they brought a cat out of it's crate and it immediately hissed, but Jack just pretended to be interested in something else. We stopped looking for a dog that day and brought Jack home to meet his feline sisters. They're not BFFs, but they're getting there!

We adopted our Chihuahua from HALO and couldn't be happier. We are so lucky that this organization works so hard to save dogs lives because otherwise our wonderful little girl would not be with us today. Thank you so much HALO for all the hard work you do and all the kindness in your hearts for these animals!

Exactly one year ago I heard of this pet adoption fair...I thought I would peruse the available animals, never thinking we would find yet another member to our family!! It made my heart so as to see so many animals looking for homes but it made my heart soar to see the efforts put into this project to both Dave and adopt out these family members. My mom and sister found themselves a beautiful boxer mix that has helped them guard their home. She is sweet, loving and very protective of them. And my daughter and I? Well we found the silliest, cutest, craziest doggy ever!! He is a crackup, protector, lover and baby all rolled into one. He is still very much a puppy but acts like a big boy when it comes to taking care of his family. He follows my daughter like a shadow, does the silliest things and makes us laugh. I could go on and on about the sheer joy and love he has brought to out family of two...and the other two dogs? Well, the girls are crazy about him too. ;-). THANK YOU HALO for saving our Cutie Boy and waiting for us to find that missing part of our hearts.

We adopted a Dapple Dachshund who we named Fred! We had to put our dachshund of 14 years to sleep and Halo was part of a large adoption at the coliseum. The halo people were wonderful and we are so happy with our adopted Fred. A great agency with kind hearts!
