Who is on the board of this organization? A few months back they sent a dog to my gf mother in what seemed to be a foster care situation. The mother somehow had this foster dog out of their own fence and it was attacked by my gf dog in unclear circumstances. The foster dog was taken to the vet and the vet bill was agreed to be paid when she had the money but we have been unable to speak with the board on this and being threatened with a case that doesn’t meet the elements of any cases or charges and would have to be levied at the mother, not the owner of the dog . In any case why is it so secret on who is on the board and how can I contact them in reference to threats being made when there was already an agreement to take care of this issue?
I have been pulling dogs from Halifax Dog Squad for many years. I have done so because of the way they treat rescue organizations and those dogs they save. With respect, honesty and care.
They are welcoming and generous in their area to accept dogs from local shelters, owner surrenders and strays. All animals are given medical care and love. They are evaluated and then promoted to us with medical and behavioral information presented. When dogs are accepted by my rescue, we work to put a transport together and make sure the dog safely gets up north to waiting fosters. Because we all want to save dogs and make sure they find the best home possible , PetConnect Rescue will continue to deal with Halifax Dog Squad. Here are some of those happy faces that found homes thru us after we got them from Halifax Dog Squad
Please help!! I rescued this sweet guy but cannot house him. He’s super sweet, good with kids and other animals. He was evidently a hunting dog abandoned because he had the number two painted on him when I came upon him. I wish he could be running and with others because he’s so lonely where I have him. Please consider making this sweet guy yours.....!!!!
I adopted my Dixie Doodle from Halifax Dog Squad a few years ago. Although she had been dumped, was starving, had a broken tail, was missing an eye, and was very timid, I thought she was the most beautiful dog I had ever seen. I began volunteering with HDS shortly after that. I am currently a board member, volunteer, and client served.
We live in a very rural area of Virginia where many dogs, particularly hunting dogs, are abandoned on a regular basis. Our small group has no national affiliation so our existence depends totally on our fundraising efforts. I feel that we are akin to “the little engine that could“ because we are small but mighty‼️Just this past weekend, we sent 32 dogs to rescue and hopefully their forever homes soon.
I lost my Dixie Doodle to cancer last month. She was the sweetest and most loving dog I have ever owned. When the time is right, I will be adopting from HDS again. Rescues are the best❤️❣️
Worked with Laura and Vicky from Halifax Dog Squad for several years now. I trust them and that is important in a shelter/rescue relationship. We work together in pulling dogs from local shelters or look at owner surrenders offered to them, then the dogs are vetted , vaccinated, chipped, altered if needed..and then offered food, warmth and love. Both Laura and Vicky have good instincts and good hearts, they offer honest evaluations of the dogs , we hope to transport. If a dog will not work for us, they let me know. They work long hours and invest funds of their own to keep animals safe and healthy, I would say they are a GREAT nonprofit, indeed.

We (www.aforeverhome.org) have been working with Halifax for several years. They work in an area where a lot of people don't care about their dogs and dump them without regard to where they will end up. Halifax takes these dogs in, gets them vetted, and markets them to reputable rescues in areas where there are good adopters available. Together we have saved a lot of lives.
We adopted a dog from Halifax Dog Squad for my mother-in-law, and that got me hooked. This is an incredible organization.
They are an amazing group individuals dedicated to rescuing dogs and getting them to better homes. They always have the dogs well being first. I live in MA and we wanted to help, so we enlisted the girl scouts to make blankets. As a thank you, they asked the girls to send names for the puppies they rescued.
I recently traveled to VA to volunteer with them and was super impressed with the organization. The kennels and runs are clean and well taken care of. Dogs are evaluated for health and personalities. They make sure they send these dogs to good rescues. They will always take a dog back if it doesn't work out. Each person I met from the Dog Squad was a wonderful, selfless human being. I highly recommend this group, for the excellent work they do rescuing dogs.
