HELP is doing amazing work in Haiti. Started with just one student about 15 years ago and now assisting over 120 students yearly, HELP provides university/college level scholarships to top achieving Haitian students who otherwise would have no means of continuing their education after high school graduation. The impact of HELP's work is far reaching. Haiti suffers from an undersized middle class as well as an undersized professional work force. HELP offers students not only a chance to lift whole families out of poverty but also an opportunity for Haiti to develop it's own professional base to solve it's own issues. Their work is even more critical in the aftermath of the earthquake, which highlighted the need for better building practices, health care, etc... Simply put, HELP is the best non profit organization I have ever encountered. It's well focused and well run. The staff in Haiti is almost exclusively Haitian. The students gain valuable skills by assisting with the operations of the programs. Lastly, that first HELP student, who thought her only chance after high school was to go to be a secretary, went on to be a doctor. Please check it out for yourself!
