One Christmas, I included with my card a message: "With all the turmoil in the world, how do we keep hope? We look for the sparks, sparks of hope." For me, Haiti is one. Amid the gangs, human cruelty to one another and government upheaval I can imagine that the good people of Haiti must feel like there is no hope. With Haiti Scholars, there is that spark of hope for those who suffer most, the children. I was drawn to Haiti Scholars by my cousin, Nicole Waite, one of the kindest and wisest people I know. For me, as an educator, education is a such a critical key for hope and the Haiti Scholars program has provided that key. It is an all encompassing program where children are provided with uniforms, school supplies, health care, and education. Even more impressive, the support includes the child's entire family so when the child goes home, the spark is carried with him or her. Haiti Scholars provide water filters and now places of safety for the entire family. With the COVID epidemic or when it is unsafe to travel to Haiti, the Haiti Scholars did not stop. They provided professional develop to the teachers via the Internet and were able to get in supplies. When we write to our students, our messages are translated and get through to the children. I am so impressed.
So when I shared with my friends and family that I saw a spark in Haiti Scholars program, I announced that with every card I would donate a certain amount to Haiti Scholars. Now, I am sponsoring a beautiful girl in the same grade I used to teach. Other members of my family are also sponsors. The Haiti Scholars program is absolutely critical for the well being of a group of children in Mariani, providing them and the world a spark of hope, education, health and possibilities for a future.

I met Nicole Waite through a mutual friend and was immediately captivated by the story of Haiti Scholars. What an incredible organization, that continues to make a difference on the ground in Haiti, even through much strife, domestic warfare, you name it, but this organization does NOT let it stop them.
A school, supplies, computers, food, medical exams...no need is too small (or too large!).
My involvement began with our first mission trip to Haiti in 2018. With our hearts on fire, we became Haiti Scholars, Inc. Our passion for empowering Haiti children and our faith in God's guidance has always led us on our path, even when that path is impeded by gangs, violence, earthquakes, or other tragedies.
As we mark six years since our inception, I, as a nurse, am filled with gratitude. Our health program, which includes physical and dental exams, nursing home visits, and health education, has made a tangible difference in the lives of our students and their families. This is a testament to the power of our mission and the impact we are making.
We see the difference our resources have made through communication with our students and their families. We can see it in the many videos the nurse and Pastor sent, such as the students' smiles as they experience a nutritious meal or participate in a computer lab. We see it in the nursing home visit reports, student physical reports, and administration reports of programs being offered because of the generous donations made by our donors. They have been our beacon of hope.
There is no other organization I am part of that matches the unwavering dedication and passion of Haiti Scholars, Inc. We stand out because we are not just a charity but a partner to our Haitian brothers and sisters. We are committed to serving the 'whole child' through education, health, food, and humanitarian assistance. When you donate to us, you can trust that your contribution will improve Haitian students' lives, giving them a chance to lead productively.

I have been associated with Haiti Scholars from the beginning. I have never seen a more dedicated team both in Chicago and in Haiti. The leadership of the entire organization is amazing. Their goal is to develop the whole student in learning, health, and nutrition. Even with all the chaos in Haiti this team in undaunted in their mission. This team DOES MAKE A DIFFERENCE!

Haiti Scholars is an awesome group of volunteers are dedicated to educating and feeding the very poor of Mariani. They work along with a dedicated teaching staff and a nurse to strengthen both the mind and bodies of these desperate kids. PLEASE CONTRIBUTE to this worthy cause! 91% of all money collected (9% goes to overhead cost) goes to the kids and community in this desperately poor country
Haiti Scholars is an organization that has demonstrated amazing results in improving the lives of so many children through education. I have the pleasure of knowing the leadership team of this organization and their dedication to their goal is second to none . Their ability to solve unexpected issues that would otherwise prevent the children from continuing their education is amazing. The kids have faced health challenges, violence in their area, and food shortages to name a few. The all volunteer team pivots continuously to address any current need . I am blessed to know this great team of people and I am happy to be a donor for this great cause !
I support several nonprofits, and I rank Haiti Scholars in my top one or two. Nicole Waite and her team do an excellent job of communicating both the needs of Haitian young people and their families, and the steps taken by Haiti Scholars to meet those needs. So you know exactly how your donations have been used. Of course, the priority is providing scholarships for extremely poor students, but Haiti Scholars also supports the students and their families by providing student dinners, medical and dental exams, water filters, clothing and much more. The life threatening situation in Haiti has prevented team members from going to Haiti the last few years, but Haiti Scholars maintains almost daily contact with Haitian staff and others so the flow of resources to students and families can continue. Lately it has become more difficult. Nonetheless, when the gangs recently attacked Mariana and families had to disperse to the other towns, Haiti Scholars managed to keep track of their sponsored student and what schools they are currently attending. Hopefully, the students and their families will be able to return to Mariana in the near future. Some positive steps toward a reasonable stability seem to be occurring.

I have been involved with Haiti Scholars since the beginning and I am amazed by everything that has been accomplished in these past 6 years. So many volunteers and donors have stepped forward to help the students of Mariani, Haiti. Even with all the civic unrest and displacement of many of our families, we are still able to provide and will continue to provide schooling and humanitarian needs for these students wherever they are residing in Haiti. We are committed to fund scholarships for all the sponsored students and their siblings throughout their educational journey. It is amazing to receive such gratitude from the students and their parents. Even though they are living in horrible conditions, they still thank us for anything we do for them, no matter how big or small. Haiti Scholars is a remarkable nonprofit and I am very proud to be a part of it.

I have been involved with Haiti Scholars since the beginning and I am amazed by everything that has been accomplished is these past 5 years. So many volunteers and donors have stepped forward to help the students of Mariani, Haiti. Scholarships, physicals, medicine and vitamins, school supplies, computers, instructor support, nursing support, and more have been and will continue to be provided. What a joy it is to see smiles on these children who live in such turmoil when they attend school! And our commitment will continue as long as it is needed to give the children hope for a better life. A huge goal is to provide a meal-a-day at school. Wouldn't that be wonderful!
Having closely followed their work and interacted with their team, I can attest to the profound impact Haiti Scholars has had on the lives of countless young Haitians. Their commitment to providing access to quality education, mentorship, and resources is truly commendable and has made a tangible difference in the communities they serve.
What sets Haiti Scholars apart is not only their dedication to academic excellence but also their holistic approach to empowerment. They understand that education is not just about imparting knowledge but also about nurturing potential, fostering resilience, and instilling a sense of purpose. Through their various programs, they equip students with the skills, confidence, and support system necessary to overcome obstacles and pursue their dreams.
Furthermore, Haiti Scholars operates with transparency, accountability, and integrity, ensuring that every resource is utilized efficiently and effectively to maximize impact. Their unwavering commitment to the betterment of Haitian society is evident in every initiative they undertake.
In a country facing numerous challenges, Haiti Scholars stands as a beacon of hope, illuminating pathways to a brighter future for the next generation. I wholeheartedly support their mission and am confident that they will continue to inspire, empower, and transform lives for years to come.
Haiti Scholars does so much good in a country where so much bad is happening. The organization has truly made a difference over the years in the lives of many children and their families as well. As the situation in Haiti has deteriorated over the past 12 months, the charity has pivoted to making sure that even though the children have had to flee from Mariani to other town in Haiti, that they are still able to get schooling and even more important at times, to be fed and not go hungry. The combination of a focused board and volunteers here in the US with an incredibly dedicated team on the ground in Haiti is changing the lives of Haitian children and giving them hope.

Haiti Scholars does an awesome job. While I have only been a board member for the last couple of years, my wife has been on the scholarship team since almost the inception so I have seen it grow for many years. Haiti Scholars has definitely made a difference in the lives of many Haitians. What started as an organization focused primarily on education, it has evolved to treat the whole child--education, health, nutrition, etc. The organization is small enough that we can quickly react to the tragic events that seem to occur almost monthly in Haiti. It is really rewarding to see the happy faces of the Haitian children as they benefit from our charity.
Haiti Scholars is deeply committed to helping the young children of Mariani reach their full potential. Haiti Scholars believes in developing the whole child through education, nutrition and health services. It's a top-notch organization that cares immensely about each student it supports. Haiti Scholars is a beacon of light that is changing the lives of the children it reaches.
My story is Haiti Scholars has the best leadership and support team I have ever witnessed. I know them. As a team they are relentless in pursuing their goal, that is supporting their human mission in Haiti in any and every way they can. Despite the bad news out of Haiti, they never give up. They faithfully follow-up and are in touch with their Haitian leaders. We donors see a constant flow of incredibly happy faces witnessing their joy validating the dedication and positive affect of the team. Those pictures exude signs of success. It is truly remarkable!!!

In a world where education is our salvation and countries like Haiti are ravaged with instability and uncertainty, Haiti Scholars provides a needed respite and resource.
It has been my great pleasure to donate to HS through the years and to be a friend of Nicole Waite, its founder.
I hope that the benefits to whomever Haiti Scholars reaches carries them through difficult times with the confidence that will make them strong Haiti and world citizens.

I have followed Haiti Shcolars since they began as a non-profit. It has been incredible to see how the organizaion has grown and as a result has helped so many families and their children through the gift of education. While proviing scholarships is their primary mission, they also provide many other humanitarian services for the children such as health checkups, after school programs and meals for the students. A very dedicated team that puts their heart and soul into their mission.
I've been a big fan and supporter of Haiti Scholars since its founding. This organization is active in a community I am very familiar with, having traveled there personally seven times. Haiti Scholars works with the community to determine what the most critical needs of the school-age children are - things that prevent them from getting an education - which might be tuition, but also might be nutrition, medical care, clean water, uniforms, and so much more. The integrity and passion of the founders and board members is unmatched by any other charity I know of. You would be very, very hard pressed to find an organization more worthy of your support!
My dear friend, Nicole, has a dream in her heart that has become reality bit by bit over the last 5 years. She serves a nation that has been forgotten by most of the world. A country long in turmoil— When she first visited the island country—she witnessed only a 1/3 of the children in this community attended school. Being a teacher be trade, this broke her heart. She started to dream—how to provide children with education. Then the dream got bigger —how to help feed these children who came to school hungry as they often had only one meal a day. The dream got bigger—how to improve the children’s health, as many were malnourished and suffered many ailments from unsanitary living conditions. Together with support from a group of friends—Nicole founded Haiti Scholars. I was fortunate to be able to accompany Nicole to Haití in 2018 with a small team. That experience forever changed my heart. Thank you Nicole for showing us how to dream and not forget about the often forgotten. Haiti Scholars changes lives in very significant ways.
I have been fortunate to work with and watch Haiti Scholars since their beginning. Their passion for the people of Haiti is inspiring. I have also traveled to Haiti with Haiti Scholars to see first-hand the work they are doing and it is incredible. They have built lasting, meaningful relationships with the people in Mariani and continue to do great work through with them virtually while travel options are too dangerous.
In 2018, I volunteered for a Haiti Scholars fundraiser and was hooked! The hearts of those involved, their dedication, passion, and enthusiasm, was indescribable and contagious. To support the mission of the whole child, Haiti Scholars wanted to start a health team. So, I joined the team. Because I believe so much in this organization, I now serve on the board and support two scholarship children. As a nurse, I never would have imagined the impact you can have on a child's health without physically caring for them. Kids who never have or would see a doctor and dentist now receive annual checkups. Kids with rashes and diseases receive medication without missing school. Kids with tummy aches receive snacks and return to class. A school that had no nurse, now has a nurse that can identify, care for, and educate the whole family. What an honor and privilege it is to be involved in this life changing organization.
Haiti Scholars' passion and development started when our church youth traveled to Haiti on mission trips. Nicole Waite, founder, and president of Haiti Scholars, traveled on some of the trips and saw what the future potential could be for children with educational opportunities. The transformational stories of Haitian children and their families continue to touch the lives of those who are served and those who support and volunteer for this important outreach mission. Haiti Scholars brings hope to the poorest children and their families by providing educational opportunities, meals, vaccinations, and basic healthcare. This amazing organization is making a difference in so many ways!
Haiti Scholars is an amazing organization that provides so much critical support to those in need. I have been so impressed with how the organization has grown and continues to grow. It is so inspiring to see the positive impact Haiti Scholars has had on both the education and health care of the Haiti communities. It is also impressive in regards to the strong partnership between the teams here and in Haiti. Their commitment to helping those in need is indeed inspiring and admirable. It is reassuring knowing the money that is donated goes directly to those who need it most which is why I am proud to continue my support for Haiti Scholars.
Do you want to transform the lives of the poorest children in Haiti?

This grassroot non-profit has been on a journey of love and caring for the neediest children in Mariani, Haiti since 2018. Its team of volunteers is dedicated to making a meaningful, lasting impact with each child it helps.
Become a part of Haiti Scholars. You’ll have the power to change a child’s future.
I have never been part of a nonprofit organization before. But since I got involved with Haiti Scholars, I fall in love with nonprofit organizations. Haiti Scholars is a wonderful organization. Their mission to help children in Haiti is something that is very valuable. Haiti is a country that has been having a lot of political turmoil which affect everyone's life, specifically children. It affect their parents, prevent them from finding a job to take care of their children. As a result more than a hundred thousand children can't go to school. Haiti Scholars is aware of how important the education of those children are and therefore raise money to pay for those children' education. I love everything Haiti Scholars do. And I am proud to be part of all that.
I have had the unique privilege of supporting this organization since their inception and actually did some mission work in the Haitian community that it serves prior to that. I can tell you firsthand that Haiti Scholars is making a significant impact on the community, getting kids into school that would be otherwise unable to attend. One of the best ways to improve the health of a community is to educate its population. By that metric, Haiti Scholars is really making a huge positive impact in Mariani, Haiti.
I’ve had the honor of working with Haiti scholars since they were starting. What I love most is their dream to help children and their commitment to healthy partnerships with the people of Haiti. God has truly blessed this vision and I’m so excited to continue to support them in the future!
I want to express my heartfelt appreciation for being a part of Haiti Scholars, an organization I am incredibly proud to lead as the founder and President. We have formed an amazing and talented team that is changing lives in a school and community in Mariani, Haiti.
One of the pillars of our organization is our commitment to providing over 60 scholarships, ensuring that deserving students receive the best education possible from grade school until the completion of high school. We firmly believe that for a child to thrive academically, we must address their overall well-being. Not only do we focus on providing the best services for a child to succeed, but we also focus on the children's health, providing essential healthcare services. Last year alone, we offered over 465 physicals. These physicals are critical to delivering the health care students need.
Furthermore, we support the health of all students through programs such as deworming and vitamin A supplementation. We understand the critical role that good health plays in a child's ability to learn and succeed. To support this, we have a full-time nurse who provides ongoing care and guidance to our students. In addition, we have started a breakfast program to serve over 150 students each morning who need a meal.
What sets Haiti Scholars apart is our unwavering dedication to a healthy mission. We take great pride in being accountable for each program and service we offer. Transparency is of utmost importance to us, and we want you to know that every dollar you contribute goes directly toward serving our impactful programs. We know exactly where your generous donations are allocated, ensuring they make a real and tangible difference in the lives of the children we support.
I want to express how blessed and grateful I am to be a part of this remarkable team and mission. Witnessing the positive changes we are making in the lives of these students fills me with an indescribable sense of fulfillment. We can continue to create a lasting impact because of incredible donors, volunteers, board, and teams in the United States and Haiti. We have a solid, strong, and dedicated partnership.
Together, we are transforming lives and shaping a brighter future for the children of Haiti.
Haiti Scholars is an amazing organization that is changing the lives of many children living in Haiti. Without this support these children would not be able to attend school. The volunteers and donors share their gifts and their love by offering these students an education, along with school supplies, physicals and other necessary programs to ensure their well being. Seeing the joy these children have and the possibilities that they will have by attending school is truly a blessing.
