They are a great group. They graciously allowed an Alaskan Malamute to adopt me this past Valentine's day. They saved him from being euthanized the next day. He is the sweetest lover and best cure for a broken heart. I still keep in touch with his fosters
Buster was the runt of a litter. Hairy Houdini raised him until he was a perfect fit for my family.
I wasn’t really sure I wanted another dog after my children left for college, but my daughter found him. I kept telling her no for 3 months. I finally gave in and Cherie brought Buster to our house for a home check. Unbeknownst to us, Buster had decided my family was going to be his family. Cherie did not have the papers with her, so she carried, Buster to her car. The next day we called her and she meet us. Buster because a great addition to our family on that day. He is a really great dog.
HHSHR is the only place to get your fur-baby! They work with you to be sure that you and your new four-legged baby is a perfect fit.
Almost 12 years ago I decided that I wanted a great dog for a companion and to love...I found the site Adopt A Pet and found HHSHR and decided that I would get the dog that I always wanted, a Siberian Husky with beautiful blue eyes...I made an appointment with the wonderful Cherie Wagonsomer to meet a gray and white husky...When I got there she told me that she wanted me to meet a different dog first (a beautiful red head) Well it was love at first sight for both of us and we literally rescued each other...Thor has made me a very happy husky Mommy and I simply love and adore him :) HHSHR is the greatest rescue I have ever come across and they do so much for the dogs and the people who rescue them and foster them...They take care of every medical need that these beautiful fur babies need and they make sure that they are spayed and neutered before they allow them to be adopted...HHSHR has and still is very important to me and so many others...They are angels.
I adopted my baby boy Thor over 10 years ago and we absolutely rescued each other...It was love at first sight and I couldn't be a happier fur baby mommy :) Cherie Wagonsomer and I kept in touch and she was always happy to answer any questions I had about my husky...I even fostered a couple of girls hoping to adopt a sister for Thor but he doesn't like to share his mommy so he's the only baby in the house...I would recommend HHSHR to anyone that wants a healthy husky from a very reputable organization...They take wonderful care of the huskies and make sure they go to good loving families.
I love this rescue. As a fellow husky lover and husky owner I have lots of respect for them. They help save and save a lot of huskies. In fact they are helping one walk again which just makes me love them even more.
Really great organization to find your best friend and meet some great people who really care about their fosters and dogs they have
I adopted my Stella through HHSHR just over a year ago. She has been absolutely amazing. It was nice to see the rescue take the time to understand the possible adopter, the home situation, and make sure that it will be a good match. HHSHR takes the time to make sure things are taken into consideration for best possible outcome. Less than a year in with my adopted pup, and here I am offering up help and fostering other huskies until they can find their"Furever" home!
We adopted our sweet Elvis through this amazing organization. I’ve dealt with rescues in the past and have typically been frustrated with the lack of organization and knowledge. This rescue is organized, knowledgeable and has the best at heart for all the dogs that come through their care. We started out thinking we were going to adopt one dog but thankfully because they take the time to really know their dogs and the adopters they knew the dog I thought I wanted was not going to be a good personality match for our already existing dog. Through working with us we found the most wonderful match for our family. The day we visited the rescue Cheri was so patient with us introducing us to different dogs, talking through their personalities and always telling us not only the good but the quirks of each so there were no surprises. Sje made sure that we brought our dog with us so we could introduce the dogs and see which match worked best. She spent hours with us and even followed up a few days later to make sure everything was going as expected. The rescue is always available for help and advice. I really cannot say enough good things about this rescue. I am grateful to this rescue for all that they do.
We adopted our 1st husky in 2009 and a 2nd a year later, both from HHSHR. The rescues founder was always willing to give us pointers into our boys' behavior and helped us to "harness" the energy huskies are known for. We still have 1 of the original 2 we adopted (and another boy they shared as a courtesy for a fur dad who had to rehome his 5 y/o husky). Love the breed and HHSHR!!
Such a great rescue. Every one in it really puts in the love and care that these beautiful huskies need and go above and beyond
We adopted our sweet Banshee girl back in February 2018. Working with Hairy Houdini Siberian Husky Rescue has been such an amazing experience. It's so obvious how much they care about the dogs in their care with their vetting process and follow up. Our family can't recommend them enough.
Huskys can be hard headed and stubborn but are loving and have big hearts. Fortunately that sums up Hairy Houdini Siberian Husky Rescue too. I contacted them a couple years ago as I was looking to add a senior Northern to my family. They were great in finding out about my home/lifestyle and helped with recommendations on which of their dogs would be a good fit. They have a very detailed adoption process and a home check was required to make sure my home and I were prepared to provide the best home for the Husky I was interested in. Thankfully, I was able to bring Apsen, my "Prince" into my life and, although my time with him was short, I treasure my memories with him, I have since adopted another senior, Maui, and, again, HHSHR made sure he was a good fit for me/us. He was a prefect fit and I love him dearly. HHSHR is dedicated to rescuing ANY Husky in need and will to great lengths to see that they are rescued. Along with their fosters and volunteers, they make sure those dogs get the care and love they need until they can find the perfect forever home for them. They also have a HHSHR community/adopters page where we all can share info, ask questions and brag about our wonderful furry familys. HHSHR is truly a great, dedicated rescue and I share their story, and mine, with anyone I speak to who is interested in adopting a Husky!
HHSHR is as high energy as the bread they rescue. Everyone is great to work with and will do or go wherever the need is to save a Siberian Husky, or even a mix and if not a husky they will try to place it somewhere. Huskies are not for everyone and they make sure your a fit with your potential pet. I adopted Kuda 6 years ago and have worked with HHSHR the past couple of years to help give back for what they do for the bread we love.
Thank you HHSHR.
Thanks to HHHR..I had the pleasure of finding my precious Jake. .it was a great experience..that was over 9 years ago and I still keep in touch with this wonderful caring organization!!!
I cannot express how much I love this organization! We started fostering and fell in love with him when couldn't let him go. It's clear to see HHSHR cares so much about the dogs and they make sure the best home is found for the pups. I will forever be grateful for Hairy Houdini!
Siberian Huskies are my absolute dream dog. I'm not too crazy about puppies so I was considering adopting an older dog. That's when I met Shadow, a handsome 9 year old. He's not even a husky I swear. He's so chill on our walks (except for him wanting a squirrel) . He's good in the house and gets along with my three cats! I'm so grateful for him and everyone here at HHSHR are so kind and friendly and make sure one of their rescues gets a great home. I've already made great friends within the rescue and I would adopt here 100000 times!
Got my husky from HHSHR 8 years ago. She's a great dog. When my son was ready to get a dog last fall, he went to HHSHR too. He has a great dog, healthy and happy. Anyone looking for a rescue should check them out!
We adopted our new family member in November 2016 from hairy Houdini Siberian husky rescue. The adoption process was very thorough and each volunteer we worked with was friendly and knowledgeable . Our Diefenbaker was around three months old when we adopted him. He is very well socialized and does well at veterinarian visit. Our veterinarian commented that the rescue did a nice job with him!
