I'm really grateful to Hadassah for its efforts to advance women's health equity, including bringing together many organizations under the umbrella of the Coalition for Women's Health Equity. At the same time, I'm inspired by the breakthroughs with stem cells. As someone with two autoimmune diseases, this provides a huge amount of hope for my generation and those to come.

I was so excited to hear about a vaccine made from the man's own cells to cure stage 4 melanoma. In January 2012 his US doctors gave him no hope and 3 -6 months to live, so this father of 5 and his wife went to Israel to visit family and friends. While he was there he heard about the research being done at Hadassah Hospital and got in touch with the Doctors. He spent 3 months waiting for his vaccine to be developed, received the vaccine and now 21 months later he is cancer free! The research being done in Israel, often in collaboration with US hospitals, is amazing.

When I read the New York Times and realized that a key scientist from Hadassah had taken their discovery into the private for profit market I was very surprised to the negative and called Hadassah to inquire about the situation as I did not want to pass judgment without discovery. This was for a an oral insulin pill. The deal is that a scientist who is paid by this orginization with your donations can take that discovery and go private and make a heap of money that Hadassah will never see. Thanks to your and my donation!! I was shocked and appalled. The women who I spoke to was high up on the pecking chain, and she said that she did not see anything wrong with this.
