Causes: Children & Youth, Education, Job Training, Vocational & Technical Schools, Vocational Counseling, Youth Development - Business
Mission: At Hack the Hood, people of color find the opportunity to fulfill their potential as entrepreneurs, innovators, and leaders of society.
Results: We've helped youth go on to college, internships and launch their own freelance practices.
Target demographics: low-income youth of color ages 16-25 & small business owners
Direct beneficiaries per year: 250 youth and 250 small businesses
Geographic areas served: Oakland, San Francisco, San Jose, East Palo Alto, Merced, Modesto, Salinas
Programs: Hack the Hood Bootcamp: A 6-week, full time program where youth get introduced to tech careers, receive professionalism training, start an online portfolio, and build a website for a small business owner. Alumni Membership Program Advanced skills training in coding, digital media and marketing, and entrepreneurship, as well as job coaching and case management.
