Programs: • Homebuyer Program: Habitat for Humanity builds decent and affordable homes in the Lower Florida Keys in partnership with families in need of a decent place to live. Habitat homebuyers help build their own homes alongside volunteers and pay an affordable mortgage. • Home Repair Program: In the Lower Keys, available land to build on is very scarce. Habitat for Humanity of Key West and Lower Florida Keys also focuses on maintaining decent, affordable homes for low-income families by renovating or preserving existing homes. To find out more about our Home Repair programs, please email info@habitatlowerkeys.org. • Low-Income Rentals: Habitat for Humanity of Key West and Lower Florida Keys is committed to the cause of helping low-income Lower Keys families find affordable, decent housing. While our ultimate goal is to facilitate affordable homeownership, we also recognize the dire need for affordable rental units. We currently operate 27 affordable rental units in the Lower Florida Keys. For some of our tenants, a Habitat rental is the gateway to homeownership. Their rental agreement and payment history with Habitat helps them establish credit and show a history of on-time payments, which then helps them to qualify to become a Habitat homeowner. • Habitat Warehouse: The Habitat Warehouse sells (and accepts donations of) new or gently used furniture, appliances, building materials and decor. Proceeds from sales help us in our mission to provide strength and stability to local Lower Keys families through affordable homeownership. This also provides a much needed service to our community by offering items at deep discounts so they go to homes and not into landfills! The warehouse is located at 111 Overseas Highway, Rockland Key, FL 33040 (behind Mama’s Garden Center and the Storage facility).
