Being connected to Habitat For Humanity-North Central Georgia has been an amazing experience. I am so fortunate to work alongside such a phenomenal group of people. The work that HFH-NCG does is a labor of love and I am grateful to have been introduced to the organization and even more excited to help carry out the meaningful work they do.
God has given me one new commandment that I should love others just as he has loved me. (John 13:34) When I volunteer for Habitat for Humanity that is what I see, feel and experience. God's LOVE! I have been a volunteer for HFHNCG going on ten years. I have helped with fund raising, building houses and anything else they ask me to do. This organization provides families an opportunity to realize their dreams. It provides families with a hand-up to changing the lives of children, the community and the world. The economic impact that home ownership has on our cities, states and national community is life changing and makes the world a better place for all. I am blessed to be able to serve with HFHNCG. People of all walks of life come together for a common goal to serve others and make a difference in our communities. YOU too have an opportunity to make a difference and to sow love and bring great joy to a deserving family. Join me as I continue to serve Habitat for Humanity!

I have so enjoyed every experience I’ve had in connection with Habitat for Humanity! The goal of providing a deserving family the opportunity to become homeowners has motivated me to volunteer with fundraising events throughout the year! I’ve met so many hard-working people who are extremely dedicated to this wonderful organization. My husband has also become involved and working alongside him, at times, has been awesome!
The once- monthly meetings that bring us all together to brainstorm is invaluable. We invite friends and family to these meetings and often, they become involved, too!
Becoming a part of Habitat…. Women Build, has surely enriched my life!
I have been volunteering with HFHNCG for a couple of years now. I can't say enough about the other volunteers with whom I have the honor of working with. Some of these folks have been working with HFH for 10-20 yrs. They are an inspiration!!! Continuing to work with HFH brings meaning to my life now in retirement. I look forward to each day on the job site as you never know what the day may bring. Also inspiring is working with the many regular sponsor organizations and the enthusiasm they bring. I hope and plan on continuing to work with HFH as long as the good Lord gives me the health to do so.

After 27 years volunteering with another HFH affiliate in Atlanta I heard great things about NCG, so I spent a couple of days at one of their build sites. I was immediately impressed with how efficient this organization runs with such low overhead. With the help of dedicated regular volunteer teams the end result is construction of the highest quality home possible. We are currently sponsoring our third home with NCG and have richly enjoyed our experience. Simply put they are great people providing wonderful families an opportunity for affordable home ownership. I was looking for a way to give back to the local community and came across the Habitat website earlier this year. I started my first house build back in January and it has been such a rewarding experience! From day 1, the Habitat construction leadership team have been extremely approachable and helpful in teaching us how to complete the builds. You can have zero experience and they will take the time to get you up to speed. I highly recommend if you are looking for a way to give back. You will feel like you are part of the crew right away!
While I have not been able to make it to a build day, I have participated in several events to raise awareness and $$ for HFH - N. Central Georgia. I have been to a Pickleball fundraiser as well as the monthly event with different speakers from the community. This group is very well run, and communicates clearly and effectively - especially when they are needs. I like that they are so action oriented
I started with Habitat For Humanity North Central Georgia in 2012 as a weekday construction volunteer and weekend crew leader.
I immediately recognized the value of the Habitat Ministry to the community and the worthy new homeowners. Our volunteers learn and work so well together there is never a day I would choose to be doing something else.
I'll do this as long as I am able.
I volunteered on my first HFH build in 2002. I love construction and to be able to do what I love and help provide a home to a deserving family - priceless. I've also been on Jimmy Carter's international builds which provided the opportunity to experience the need in far reaching places. I joined the North Central Georgia Women Build group about 4 years ago and have met some really inspiring women who's focus is to work together in making a better life for families and all those around us.
Habitat for Humanity - North Central Georgia is an outstanding nonprofit in that it builds and finances homes for those under-served families living in our community. It also teaches these new/prospective homeowners about home to budget their finances, maintain their home and become invested in there new home through sweat equity. This organization builds quality homes with all volunteers except for the professional trades, such as electricians, etc. I have been involved with this organization as a volunteer for over 15 years and will continue to support this Christian-based organization.
I have been a “regular volunteer“ with Habitat of North Central Georgia for about five years. Regular volunteers are the folks who work on the houses during the week, then serve as crew leaders for the groups of Saturday volunteers.
I work with a terrific group of volunteers who not only give off their time and energy to build houses for deserving families, but who also have a passion for teaching others. They take pride and pleasure in helping beginners learn and guiding experienced volunteers in “the Habitat way” of building solid houses.
In the ten years I’ve volunteered at Habitat I have met so many wonderful people and made great friends. I have learned enough skills that I finished my own basement and can handle many home repairs myself.
Seeing people become homeowners is a very rewarding experience.
I have been a Habitat for Humanity-North Central Georgia volunteer for 21 months with the completion of five homes. Being a volunteer for Habitat was a goal I set upon retirement. I have not been disappointed. The opportunity to help families acquire a home through a Christian based nonprofit organization is a fantastic opportunity. A home provides a corner stone for a family to put down roots and to grow, a place to celebrate birthdays and holidays, do homework, have meals together, have a safe place to play, a place of shelter and safety, and a place to raise a family. The faith based blessings that come from being a volunteer and working with the family and other volunteers is fantastic and rewarding. The volunteers get to do the visible work, building the home. The North Central Georgia nonprofit organization has the behind the scenes responsibility of bring the many and complex components together to make a home possible. The soliciting and managing of the donations, screening, selection and training of the potential home owners, acquiring the property and permitting, providing an opportunity for cooperate participation and team building, managing schedules and cash flow and many other activities that result in a home. North Central Georgia manages these behind the scenes activities and the visible construction of the homes very well. The past 21 months have been faith building, a great learning experience, FUN, and an opportunity to work with North Central Georgia, a great organization.
I volunteer at habitat builds for a selfish reason to use my engineering education and talents to help and learn more about home construction but also to help a needed family to have a place called HOME.
I have worked with Habitat building houses for 15 years. It is a wonderful organization. I have worked with the homeowners and I can tell you they are hard working, and very appreciative of the chance to move their families in and start their lives. They continue to give back after they move in, working on other houses and serving on fundraising committees.
Habitat gives people a chance to own a home, give back and build lives they might never had had a chance to do without this service.
Northpoint Roofing Systems participated in a build. All of the employees had a wonderful time and enjoyed helping the community and family.
I'm a volunteer, contributor and board member for Habitat for Humanity North Central Georgia. They do so much in the community to provide safe, stable and affordable housing for families!
I have supported Habitat for many years through donations of time and money. To me there is nothing more fulfilling than giving another person a "Hand-Up" when needed.
Achieving the dream of owning a house and creating a home for one's family is security that people deserve. Sometimes, not everyone has the opportunity. Through generous donations of time, money, and materials; Habitat is able to provide attainable homes at a discounted price and with an Interest Free Mortgage. All designed to give a "Hand-Up", not a handout.
When I was asked to join the Board of Directors, I jumped at the opportunity. It's a wonderful organization that makes a big difference in the lives of the people for whom we build. --MIke Pennington, Woodstock

I got involved with Habitat for Humanity-North Central Georgia(HFHNCG) because i like to build things. After my first volunteer experience building a home for a deserving family, I learned there is so much more to HFHNCG's mission. HFHNCG provides a hand up to families that need that boost to fulfill their dream to become a homeowner. The homeowners put in many hours of sweat equity building homes for others and their own. Once the home is completed the homeowners have a zero percent affordable mortgage to pay.
My experiences with HFHNCG and the dedicated staff there, has taken me on the path to be a member of the Board of Directors of HFHNCG.
If you have an interest in making a difference in the community by making the dream of home ownership possible, I would encourage you to get involved with HFHNCG by volunteering or making a donation.
This group of women are so wonderful and welcoming. The meetings are structured and upbeat. We get things done for the cause so seamlessly it feels like and the people are there for the right reasons - to put the cause first. The beneficiaries of the homes throughout the years sometimes attend the monthly meetings to share their experiences with Habitat, and it's wonderful to meet them and hear their gratitude. The monthly meetings have nice food and beverages, the meeting space is comfortable and parking is easy. The Habitat for Humanity leadership / staff is super informative and wonderful to work with. I recommend anyone interested to attend a meeting and see whether it fits in with your charity ambitions!
