Mission: To build affordable housing in hunterdon and somerset counties, new jersey.
Programs: The mission of raritan valley habitat for humanity (rvhfh) is to put god's love into action and bring people together to build homes, communities and hope in hunterdon and somerset counties, where more than 25% of the population does not earn enough to pay rent on a typical two-bedroom apartment. To fulfill its mission in the 2016 fiscal year, rvhfh completed two homes in the somerset section of franklin township, its 49th and 50th home. A wide array of community groups participated in the home dedication ceremonies including legislators, township officials, volunteers, corporations, civic and faith-based organizations, gardening clubs, and the rvhfh board and staff. Working together with franklin township, rvhfh neared completion of the purchase of three new properties, which will allow for construction to begin in fiscal year 2017. The new three or four-bedroom homes will provide affordable housing and a better place to live for three low-income families in franklin township.
