Mission: Putting faith into action, greeley area habitat for humanity brings people together to build decent homes, communities and hope.
Programs: Home construction and transfer of ownership to low-income families: overall capacity was increased resulting in the ability to construct and offer the home ownership opportunity to six homes and families, earning between 30-80% of the weld county median income. Two of the homes completed in this calendar year were for veterans and their families as part of the first and second veteran's builds for habitat in the state of colorado. Per gahfh's general program parameters, these homes were sold at no profit and are financed at 0% interest. Continued on schedule 0 greeley area habitat for humanity in partnership with greeley-evans school district 6 established an innovative educational workforce readiness program in which at-risk jefferson high school students build greeley habitat homes from foundation to finish while incorporating their core curriculum requiremnts for graduation and acquiring highly sought after construction skills & knowledge. Jefferson high school students in partnership with greeley habitat built, on-site, three homes in fy 2016-17.
the family services program is comprised of programs and practices designed to provide applicants and approved homeowners with the skills and support they need to prosper as long-term homeowners. Support services are multifaceted and begin with a consultation with the gahfh family services associate. Approved applicants are paired with a family support committee volunteer who work alongside the partner family throughout the homebuilding and closing processes. Said volunteers work with the partner family to complete a series of six written lessons including: ownership vs. Rental occupancy, financial planning, protection of the investment value of the home, homeowners insurance, equity building and income tax responsibility, and "your mortgage. " continued on schedule o in addition to the lessons completed with the family support volunteer, approved applicants are required to complete a series of group workshops prior to closing on their home. Group workshops include: landscaping, city codes, covenants, homeowners insurance (workshop), and hoa.
in september of 2017, the greeley habitat for humanity restore was honored by the weld county government workforce with the colorado state youth employment program award. Additionally, the restore program has on-boarded new revenue streams and partnerships to increase profits and the merchandise it is able to offer to the community. Gahfh has partnered with crowley correctional facility through the webuild program to offer custom cabinets and kitchens at a discounted rate. Continued on schedule o. The cabinets are made by the inmates at crowley and upon their completion of the program, graduates earn their journeyman in furniture and cabinet making, thus continuing gahfh's work to strengthen the community and provide the most marginalized and underserved populations an opportunity for a better future and to help end the cycle of poverty.
