Programs: Home sales - habitat for humanity builds houses with hard working low-income families who partner with us and invest 500 hours to build their own houses. We also purchase foreclosed homes which are refurbished with the help of the families. After completion, the family purchases their house using a no interest, no profit mortgage from habitat for humanity that does not exceed 1/3 of their monthly income. The total expenses exceed revenues as although interest is not charged, the loans are discounted at a 7% interest rate.
"a brush with kindness" provides repairs to low income homeowners to make their homes safe and livable. Volunteers assist the habitat sstaff in completing most project in 1-4 days. The homeowners pay for the repairs with a no inteest note that is secured by the property with payments and terms that are affordable.
the restore is a home improvement thrift store that sells donated materials and supplies at discounted prices. The restore has three goals: 1) to raise money for the construction of more habitat for humanity houses in tulare and kings counties; 2)to divert usable material from the landfill; and 3) to make usable materials available to the public at reasonable prices.
