HPSO is a true blessing to the community!! When I heard about HPSO, I was amazed because here is an organization that truly helps people start over again. HPSO is the light at the end of a dark tunnel. And they don't give a hand out, they give you a hand up!!! I had the pleasure of doing a couple of fundraisers for them and it was awesome to give to such a great organization. I would highly recommend either giving of your time or financially to this organization because they really do make a difference in people's lives....like Sheila Harris with The Father's Heart Ministry is so awesome.
My experience in working with the HPSO organization has been very rewarding. The volunteers there are genuine and sincere, and offer real hope to hurting people. I specifically have been involved in the food ministry and in tutoring in the GED program. I have heard numerous clients say how great a blessing HPSO has been to them. I always leave there in a refreshed, upbeat spirit.
As part of the ministry of HPSO (Helping People Start Over), I have been truly blessed by God and I have seen God do tremendous work in and through those who come through our doors. We give "a hand up" and not just "a hand-out." Ministry of love, hope, direction, and encouragement is what we do, God gives the increase. The Food Ministry, The Father's Heart; the single mothers support ministry, GED skill building classes, the clothes closet, and job and housing search assistance, these are just a few of the areas we offer assistance. We have many other programs and more to come. We love what we do, the people we meet, and having the opportunity see the faces light up with joy and eyes filled with tears - not just receiving the food and clothes, but hearing and feeling the love of Jesus Christ through our ministry staff and volunteers. This is an opportunity I would invite everyone to be a part of and to know that it is not about us, but it is about doing what God has commissioned us to do. Its about having a heart to serve others. When we have the ability to do and don't, it is then that we really become "disabled." The services we provide is as valuable as life itself, because we have seen lives saved and changed and that is awesome!
HPSO was established in 1998 as an outreach ministry of New Life Christian Center of Augusta, Ga. Pastors Bryan and Rhonda Matthews have a heart for "Helping People Start Over". That is the mission of HPSO to ease the burden on our government and economy by providing assistance to those in need and ultimately to help them gain the skills needed to create a better life for themselves and their families. HPSO accomplishes this through providing GEDs,Jobs for Life,Language,Computer, and single mother's classes.
