I called Kathy when my friend died, leaving a Quaker parrot in desperate need of an immediate home. She drove an hour just to pick him up. Every time I have met Kathy, she is in transit saving a bird. Last summer it was a green Macaw , whose cage had been a guinea pig cage. She treats all her birds with great respect. Every bird gets an extensive physical. The birds are never available for adoption until they are healthy enough. Meaning, if a bird has a terrible infection or a broken leg, Kathy takes care of the bird until mended. She is always taking her birds to the vet, which is very unusual for a rescue. She never takes in more birds than she can handle as she gives each bird extensive care. As far as I am concerned, HAPPE is tops.
Summer of 2013 I I needed a home for a cockatiel I had caught in a farm field. I found Happee parrots rescue on the internet and Kathryn did not hesitate to take the bird in! I'm amazed by her care for the birds at her rescue. Without her, these birds would not receive what they need in order to prosper and be adopted out to great homes.
Kathryn and her husband were so thoughtful and caring when they even volunteered to help out my daughter in the search for a dental patient. For them to offer their time to assist her was incredible! Not only do they give back with their rescue, they really give back to all of those in need as well.
Just about everything I know about parrots and their care is because of HAPPE Parrots Rescue. When no one else would they gave me an opportunity and guidance to be a great parrot parent, they did. Any time day or night they are there to help it's all about what is best for the birds. They are staunch advocates of adoption, to stop out of control breeders and hoarders. Birds are ment to fly but now that they are unable to be released lets give them the care that they deserve.
I have had nothing but a great experience with the kindness and sincerity from HAPPE Parrot rescue... I have taken in two birds from them, and also had to re-home one back thru them and the experience was always for the good of the bird! Kathy Forst has a heart of gold and is one of the most professional and kind people I have had the pleasure to know.
