My experience is a little personal. I met the owner 4 years ago and we automatically became friends. I would join her a one of her sanctuaries and learned that she had the same passion for animals like I do. I sat back and watched her with the horses, bathing them, doing health check ups and was on point with making vet appointments. I have watched her with one in particular horse, Shadow. Shadow was mistreated, under weight and very skiddish of humans. With daily visits, constant love and attention and many treats, Shadow became a new horse. She fell in love with Michelle and seemed to prosper quickly. Michelle and Shadow together helped other mistreated and neglected horses rehabilitate in a secure loving place. Michelle does not just rescue horses but she also rescues dogs, cats, pigs, cows, chickens and raccoons. All animals receive vet care and wellness checks, all shots and treats, and Michelle devotes her time to show the animals that they are loved and never have to worry about being homeless again. All animals are adopted (after a thorough background check and a meet and greet) to loving homes. Having Michelle in these animals lives is one of the best experiences these animals can have. Michelle never charges for her rescue. She works on donations.
MAC is an amazing person and her love for horses goes beyond anything I've seen in all my years. I've watched her take horses who should have died and bring them back. I'm also seen her broken hearted when she loses one.
GHHR&R is one of the very few rescues I wholeheartedly trust. The founder of this nonprofit is very knowledgeable and transparent. She takes phenomenal care of her rescues and prioritizes their needs. I wish there were more rescues out there like GHHR&R.
Michelle is one of the most amazing horse rescue folks I've ever known. She goes above and beyond not only to rescue the wonderful horses in her care, but to help others make a difference as well. She's my go to person for all equine help and resources. She knows her stuff in all areas of equine rescue and puts the animals first.
