The Gum Springs Historical Society and Museum is by far one of the greatest hidden gems in Northern Virginia! The rich history told by Mr. Ron Chase, director of the museum, provides a powerful example of a community's persistence and spirit. Everyone who lives in the DMV should know the name Gum Springs. Mr. Chase is a warm, welcoming host who is a fountain of knowledge for all things Gum Springs. The museum holds so much incredible history, you will have to make more than one trip!

Stewards of Virginia African American History:
The Gum Springs Historical Society was charted in 1984 to tell the story of the oldest African American community in Fairfax County, est. 1833. Its primary purpose is to authenticate the history of Gum Springs by preserving its heritage, culture, artifacts, and traditions; to establish the Gum Springs Community as a historic landmark; to create and stimulate community awareness, appreciation, and involvement in the important activity of preserving culture, history, and in establishing the Gum Springs Museum to serve as a repository whereby the community may display artifacts that embody the cultural values and world view of a people.
