Gulfshore Playhouse in my hometown of Naples, Florida is outstanding theater; the artisitic director's selection of plays for each season includes dramas, classics, comedies and recent Tony Award winning plays. The Equity actors are cast perfectly and the set designs and costumes are wonderful. This small regional theater does much in its present small space. The box office staff is accommodating and processes orders accurately and with top-notch customer service. Their children's programs introduce theater to children as young as 4 and 5 yrs old, and they also have a popular educational outreach program in our public schools which is well-received by both teachers and students. We feel so blessed to have such a high caliber theater right in our back yard. C'mon down to Naples and see for yourself! ------Adrianne Cady
Gulfshore Playhouse continues to produce professional theater at its best on the Paradise Coast. Six great productions this year plus an outstanding education program. I'm so proud to be affiliated with Gulfshore Playhouse and its outstanding Producing Artistic Director, Kristen Coury..
Gulfshore Playhouse just keeps getting better. Their education programs provide great support for local school systems, and their productions are terrific. Most of their actors have Broadway creidts, and Kristen Coury, Producing Artistic Director, is a great leader of the organization and a great director. I am so proud to be involved with Gulfshore Playhouse.
David Mamet's "Race" was up to the Gulfshore PLayhouse's usual very high standards. We enjoy all of Naples' cultural offerings, but the Gulfshore Playhouse's ofderings are of a higher quality than other similare Naples organizations. Its plays are of a higher quality -- Ibsen, Arhur Miller, Tennssee Williams, etc. Its performers are regularly of a very high quality. Kudos to Ms. Coury and her staff!
My wife and I have been attending Gulfshore Playhouse for the past year. We were amazed by the high caliber of the first show we saw there -- Honour. We also liked the idea of "serious" theater. After Honour, we invited friends from New York to see Beau Jest and then A Doll's House. Used to attending Broadway shows, they too were amazed by the quality of both performances -- especially by the quality of the acting.
This season we saw Tuesdays with Morrie, and we are looking forward to seeing Unnecessary Farce, A View from the Bridge and Blithe Spirit with our New York friends who will be arriving soon.
What I like best about Gulfshore Playhouse along with the quality of the performances is the variety of its offerings. The gamut between A Doll's House and Beau Jest is wide indeed, and the Gulfshore Playhouse bridges it wonderfully in a theater without a bad seat!
As a transplant to Naples from the NYC area, I was seeking to involve myself in quality, professional theater. I found Gulfshore Playhouse and began volunteering in the fall of 2010. Not only was I impressed at how professional the staff at Gulfshore are, but I was also totall impressed with the quality production, Tuesdays With Morrie. The professional actors from NYC and the East Coast of Florida were totally awesome! The guidance that Gulfshore's staff gave volunteers was very professional. I am totally thrilled that I found Gulfshore Playhouse!
It is delightful to have Theatre Arts in our community with consistant quality at very reasonable prices. I have witnessed how determined Kristen Coury maintains high professional standards and brilliantly talented in Directing.....I highly recommend coming to see these shows at The Gulfshore Playhouse-they are shows that really make you think!
Gulf Shore Playhouse has produced consistent New York high quality plays from the very beginning.
They have been exciting, emotional and thoroughly entertaining.
The director, Kristen Coury is one of a kind and extremely talented.
We are very fortunate to have them in our community.
Gulfshore Playhouse is indisputably the finest professional theatre in the Naples, FL metropolitan area. Although Naples is an affluent community of well-educated professionals, it's exposure to the theatre arts is sub-standard. Gulfshore Playhouse fills that niche perfectly. Moreover, the Playhouse's educational mission -- serving area students, residents, and visitors -- offers a cultural experience too often missing from typical school curricula.
Everything Kristen Coury touches turns to gold. Her directing skills and creative decisions are remarkable. An evening at a Gulfshore Playhouse production is always an evening to remember.
I came to the Playhouse to see what it was all about, as a newcomer to Naples, Fl. As a past president of a small blackbox theater in Pennsylvania, I had a good bit of experience at how theaters work and also how they sometimes don't. I was so impressed with the folks I met on a warm summer day, slaving away in the office, that I volunteered to usher. I have attended two shows so far, each top notch productions with professional actors, staging and production values. Nowhere else in this lovely town can you find better theatre. I have committed to making certain that the Playhouse thrives and grows by volunteering my time and talents whenever asked. I thoroughly enjoy having access to a bit of NYC while enjoying the SUN down here.
I'm a theatre producer who came to Naples, FL to vacation. I went. to a Gulfshore play expecting to see the usual fare of community theatre. I was delighted to experience a first rate professional production. From A-Z this company is as good as you will see anywhere. I'll come back every chane I get.
As a professional Theatre Consultant I have been involved with many "start up" theatre organizations over the past twenty-five years. It has been my expierience that the Gulfshore Playhouse is doing everything right to build a regional theatre company that will serve the community for many years to come. They are building loyal patron support through hard work, intelligent choices , fiscal responsibility, and an uncompromised dedication to producing quality theatre.
My husband and I started attending shows at Gulfshore Playhouse when they first started a few years ago. We’ve been amazed at the caliber of the talent Kristen Coury, the Producing Artistic Director brings in. The quality of the productions are amazing and Kristen’s ability to bring every detail of the story to life is magical. We are extremely lucky that Kristen brought professional theater to SW Florida at affordable prices. Gulfshore Playhouse continues to accomplish wonderful education programs in the community. We always look forward to every production and are excited about the continued growth of this fabulous organization!
My husband and I are theater buffs and, having relocated from the New England area, we missed the quality and variety of theater productions we saw in New York, Boston and Providence. We were not interested in "community theater", but were looking for excellent productions with Equity actors/actresses.
Four years ago, we discovered Gulfshore Playshore on our doorstep and have been impressed with their productions. We spoke in rhyme for hour after seeing "Tartuffe", raved about Ibsen's "Doll House", and chuckled through "Married Alive!". We have not been disappointed and have appreciated the variety of high-quality productions that have been directed at Gulfshore Playhouse. You will not be disappointed.

As relatively new residents of Naples we attended a play at the Gulfshore Playhouse last year for the first time and we were delighted. The choice of plays and the acting was wonderful. I must admit that we are pretty critical of local performances because we like to see performances on Broadway at least once a year but Gulfshore Playhouse amazed and surprised us.
The quality of the productions at Gulfshore Playhouse is truly amazing. Having attended many plays in London and New York over the last 25 years, I just didn't expect the quality of acting and direction that I found. Kristen Coury is creating magic in Naples. Honour and A Doll's House have been two of my favorites. See a play at Gulfshore Playhouse and you will become a regular.
We have been a part of Gulfshore Playhouse since its beginning and have watched Kristen Coury, the Producing Artistic Director, bring the magic of professional theatre to SW Florida. We have seen every single production and each time, the shows get better and better. This year is the first year we are doing 4 productions...for extended runs....and the tickets are flying out the door. My husband and I are so very proud to be a part of this dream coming true!
Living in Toronto, with children resident in New York City, we are most fortunate to see numerous "Broadway" plays as well as local theatre productions both as subscribers and single-show attendees. I'm embarrassed to admit that that we did not expect to tbe satisfied with the scope or quality of theatre offerings in SouthWest Florida. Gulfshore Playhouse quickly gave us an attitude adjustment, overwhelming us with the professional and impressionable production experiences they provide on a consistent basis. It's been six years now and we have yet to be disappointed.
I write this review as a non-profit professional and as a patron of Gulfshore Playhouse.
As a non-profit professional, I am extremely impressed with what Gulfshore Playhouse has accomplished as a solid 501 (c) 3 organization. They effectively squeeze as much value out of each dollar as possible which has allowed them to not only survive, but downright THRIVE in a recessing economy - a feat almost unheard of as we watched many arts organizations around the country close their doors these past few difficult years. They have successfully increased their ticket sales and subscription base and strategically advanced the organization through adroit board selection, programming and effective and creative marketing/positioning. It is unquestionable that Gulfshore Playhouse has now "arrived" as a staple of the Southwest Florida arts community.
As an avid theater patron, Gulfshore Playhouse's commitment to offering a superior product/production is extremely apparent. Whether the production is comedic or dramatic, the company always offers a high quality performance with professional actors. They do not allow budget constraints to hamper the "product" in any way - they find a way to give the best production possible and do not accept mediocrity. And they do it a price which makes the offerings available to the everyman. You do not have to make a million dollars to enjoy a production at Gulfshore Playhouse - their attention to assuring the theater is accessible to everyone, especially in the current economic state, is commendable.
As an old New Yorker, I have seen innumerable plays on Broadway. Last year when I attended my first show at the Gulfshore Playhouse in Naples, I did not expect much. I was pleasantly surprised! The acting, script and sets were first rate. Attending more plays, later in the year, I discovered my first experience was not a flash-in-the-pan. All the productions were on a high quality level.
And unlike New York, the parking was easy--and free. What a find!
As a Naples resident for three seasons, I was delighted to find the quality and intimacy of the Gulfshore Players. I especially enjoyed "Tuesdays with Morrie" and retuned for a second show in order to share the production with some guests I had.
In the summer I live in the Boston area and so appreciate the convenience of productions in Naples and the reasonable prce pf tickets --- Art should be affordable for all. I love Boston theatre, but the parking fees and ticket prices limit participation.
