Programs: The gulf coast safety council is a louisiana chartered non-profit corporation, declared tax exempt by irs as a section 501(c)(3) educational entity. The council, through operations that are totally non-profit, conducts educational seminars in industrial safety for construction and for petro-chemical workers. Most of the large refineries in the area require proof (an id card) of successful completion of the council's one-day seminar. The refineries often process their own employees through the course, or offer similar in-house training. This kind of safety training in construction and petro-chemicals is a conscientious effort by industry to comply with regulations of the occupational safety and health administration. During calendar year 2014, the council processed approximately 145,207 trainees through its instructional program.
