For me Guilderhaven is the gold standard for doing what is best for the pet. Christmas Eve 2000 Guilderhaven brought me a trap and helped me rescue a stray/lost cat. It was obvious some one loved and cared for her. Her coat was beautiful. Nails trimmed. Ears sparkling clean. She was just scared, hungry and cold.We had friends visiting that were celebrating Hanukkah and we were celebrating Christmas. On the hope that her family would not be found we stayed up until early morning coming up with a name for her. We named her Star for the holidays.Through their networking they searched for the cats owner. I have to admit I was hoping the owner would not be found! Guilderhaven found the owner on New Years Eve. The owners were so happy to hear she was o.k.. I was totally bummed. Guilderhaven found out they had rescued her on the side of the road in Virginia while on a family vacation. They brought her back to Guilderland. They love and cared for her. But she was very timid with the other pets they already had in their home. Guilderhaven let them know we were pet lovers too and she had been very well cared for with us. After some conversation they decided it would be best for her in our home as it was a little quieter. I could not have been happier!Guilderhaven helped with the rescue on Christmas Eve, searched for the owner and ultimately helped guide the decision making on what would be best for the pet. Thanks to Guilderhaven she was the best Christmas present ever. We were very fortunate to have this very snugglie, loving, beautiful kitty we treasured for 16 fantastic years. We have maintained our continued support for Guilderhaven since Christmas 2000.
Sue is one of the nicest women I have ever met. Her passion for this organization shines. My dog was able to have a lower cost spaying that was more affordable for me. Thanks. And she is always ready to donate baskets to try and raise money for them.
Couldn’t say enough.
Oh wait they also donated a waste station for our downtown area. With her help I was able to get 5 places in the city and now the city is adding 10 more. So thanks!
As a former board member, I can attest that Guilderhaven has helped hundreds of pets receive medical care and has assisted their owners with providing various help when there is a need. Guilderhaven is very active in our community.
Guilderhaven is an amazing organization with incredibly dedicated people; their hard work and around the clock care that they give to animals that might not otherwise have a chance of survival is impressive. These people have definitely earned their crown in Heaven!
I found a nest of baby bunnies that had been scattered by something; two were already dead, but three were still moving. I called several rescues but was turned away by all of them until we found Guilderhaven. They gladly took in the survivors and successfully raised them. I have nothing but huge kudos for this group, not only for accepting these babies when no one else would, but also for their dedication, commitment, and hard work. These people are nothing less than heroic!
Guilderhaven is a great asset to the companion animals in the Altamont area. Whether you need information, assistance or an extra hand these folks are ready to help. Well worth supporting with your contributions and time.
Whenever I have a friend that needs help with a stray animal, I just call Guilderhaven and get the answers I need. Recently we had a person who needed assistance with her cat and as always, Guilderhaven was able to point me in the right direction. What would I do without them? If ever I say I will call Guilderhaven, people are so grateful. Thank you for always being there for everyone.
Whenever I have a question about a stray or injured animal I just call the volunteers at Guilderhaven and they connect me with the right people. They help pay for hundreds of spay and neuter a each year and help countless animals get adopted. We are so lucky to have them in our area!
There's never been a more caring, helpful organization for animals than Guilderhaven. The work they do is truly inspirational. These people have hearts of gold and are committed to helping animals find good homes and get good medical treatment. If I could give them ten stars I would.
We always turn to Guilderhaven when the homeless families we serve have a pet that needs veterinary care. They always respond immediately and provide generous support and guidance. Our community is truly blessed to have such a caring organization committed to serving animals and their owners!
We adopted our dog Skye from Guilderhaven years ago. He was abandoned twice but the volunteers never gave up on him. They walked him and took care of him until he found his forever home with us. They helped acclimate him to his new surroundings with us and he lived to a ripe old age of 16 being loved and spoiled. Guilderhaven exists on donations, plant and book sales, etc. It’s amazing what they can accomplish and how many people they are able to help!
This is a great non-profit with volunteers who really care about the health and welfare of animals. We adopted a dog through them. He had been abandoned and they took care of him for months until we adopted him and remained a resource for us as we worked through initial separation anxiety issues. Excellent group!
Guilderhaven, inc. has been helping the animal community since 2002 and has been successful in helping clients maintain their responsibility to their companion animals. In turn they have been able to decrease the number of animals given up to overcrowded animal shelters.
I cannot believe it has been >16 years since Guilderhaven, inc. received their 501(c)(3) certification. Since that time the organization has changed but the overall mission of helping the animal community has not. Guilderhaven, inc. has consistently provided education and low cost spay/neuter for more than 13 years. In addition, Sue Green, the current Chair is accessible 24/7 to help the public with any emergency and any question.
Susan green and guilderhaven are awesome. No one wants to see homeless pets. No one ! I am an animal lover to sa thy the least. I just recently moved back to New York due to hurricane florence in South Carolina which destroyed my house. On my way out battling the storm I saved four little tiger kittens. I just knew I couldn't afford to have them spayed and neutered by of the financial devastation that the hurricane had caused. However I did know I could give them a forever home and with the help of guilderhaven they would be spayed and neutered to help cont extol the pet population and keep them healthy. I thank everyone from this organization that has made it possible for me to keep my new found babies. Thank you from the bottom of my heart.
We adopted our precious Cat Cotton and I can not say enough about the wonderful volunteers that made our process smooth. We had two dogs at home and they were able to help us transition them.all very nicely. They were with is every step of the way. Thank you for all you do.
Guilderhaven, Inc. is an amazing organization with the most dedicated and caring volunteers. We adopted Cotton in February and the volunteers (Laurie and Dorothy) helped us through the transition of bringing him home to our house of 2 dogs were amazing. They were with us each step of the way and they made the transition for us go smoothly with their help and guidance. They have hearts of gold and truly care about the animals. Thank you Guilderhaven, you are simply the best and we can not imagine our lives without Cotton being in it. Truly a blessing.
We have been working with Guilderhaven for about 7 years now. I love being able to help these families get their pets spayed and neutered. They are also given vaccines when they come in for surgery and are tested for heartworm and lyme disease. If it wasn't for them most of these people couldn't get it done. I'm thankful this organization is out there.
As a friend of someone who has been involved with Guilderhaven for years, I can surely say that the dedication and effort that goes into this organization is amazing. I would babysit my friend's children while she would spend time at an animal shelter or go to the home of a pet owner that desperately needed help. This is an organization of wonderful people who always go out of their way to help our furry friends.
When a stray cat arrived on our doorstep and we found the local shelter to be full and not accepting any more cats, we resorted to calling Guilderhaven, who referred us to a local veterinarian who would spay/neuter the cat for a nominal fee. Although we already had two rescue cats and would not have chosen to add one more to our family, it has worked out well and Guilderhaven staff could not have been more pleasant or helpful.
Guilderhaven is a wonderful organization filled with amazing and dedicated staff and volunteers!
Several years ago, a friend’s cat was hit by a car. She called several veterinarians to treat her cat but she could not afford the care. None of the veterinarians’ offices would accept a payment plan. She called me and I put her in touch with Sue at Guilderhaven. Sue immediately made arrangements for the cat to receive veterinary care and paid the bill. The cat had been seriously injured and a leg was amputated. My friend still has her cat today because of Sue and Guilderhaven. Guilderhaven is a very compassionate organization that ALWAYS put the animal’s needs first. I am proud to call Sue my friend and be able to help out Guilderhaven whenever possible. Guilderhaven is a 5 star + group!
Guilderhaven came to the rescue of a gorgeous Irish Setter who lived in our neighborhood. This dog was neglected and left outside without food, water or shelter. My neighbors and I contacted our local animal control office several times, only to see no results. I contacted Georgia from Guilderhaven who immediately visited the owners of the Irish setter. She spoke at length with the owner who ended up sending the dog to a loving home coordinated by Georgia. Now, Max the Irish Setter is living a happy, healthy and fulfilled life! I will always be grateful to Guilderhaven for saving Max!
its great to know there is someone out there that takes care of our fallen critters, i had 2 birds, one a mourning dove that was stunned and it was all puffed up cold and i got it to a warm spot and it spent the winter with Jean, who takes in wildlife and if she does not do certain animals she has many sources of others that do,i also had a wood pecker that was stunned from hitting a window and she took it to the vet who helps also, anyway im happy to know there are good people out there that do care and volunteer there time and money to make it happen,God Bless these people
I have worked with Guilderhaven for many years and have seen how effective this organization is. Their spaying and neutering of feral animals has been extremely helpful and they are always available to help individuals who need support for their pets. They are very effective at raising funds and also very judicious in the use of their funding. This is unquestionably a 5-star nonprofit.
