Causes: Centers to Support the Independence of Specific Populations, Human Services
Mission: To act as guardian for decision impaired persons who are unable to take care of their own financial and/or personal needs and have no other person willing and/or qualified to do so.
Programs: Guardian ad litem services: corporation served as guardian ad litem for 12 decision impaired persons pending court hearings on the issue of incapacity. As guardian ad litem, the corporation determined whether hospital discharge was warranted, whether discharge placement was appropriate, took those steps necessary to protect these decision impaired persons and their assets as needed, and filed written reports on its findings as guardian ad litem with the court.
guardian of person and/or estate services: corporation served as guardian of the person and/or estate for 115 decision impaired persons adjudicated incapacitated by the court. As guardian of the person, the corporation provided informed consent for medical treatment, determined appropriate living arrangements, arranged for needed care and services, worked with family members as needed, and reported status of cases to the court. As guardian of the estate, the corporation marshalled and managed assets, liquidated assets as needed, sold real estate as needed, paid debts and expenses, filed income tax returns, applied for governmental benefits including medical assistance, settled estates of deceased wards, and reported status of cases to the court.
