Programs: Risk based data management system (rbdms) the rbdms initiative is now in its 24th year. This is a comprehensive data management system used by 23 state oil and gas agencies providing regulators and the regulated community management tools for water-energy sustainability. It allows regulatory agencies to protect the environment while supporting responsible development of domestic oil and gas and the underground injection of fluids. Use of the rbdms results in significant staff efficiencies and reduced operating expenses for regulators and the regulated community while providing access to production and injection data and more. Over the history of rbdms, the ground water research and education foundation (gwref) has successfully managed 9. 5m federal and 2. 6m non-federal for the project. Fracfocus fracfocus is the hydraulic fracturing chemical registry website initiated by the ground water protection council (gwpc) and the interstate oil & gas compact commission. Site users can search for information about the chemicals used in the hydraulic freacturing of oil and gas wells. The site also features educational materials designed to put the chemical data in perspective. This educational piece is funded in large part by the gwref. Spotlight series events the spotlight series is a technology transfer initiative of the gwref focusing on current and emerging issues associated with ground water management and protection. In february gwref conducted spotlight series sessions at the annual uic conference in denver covering topics on injection well cementing practices and class ii disposal well best management practices. Annual uic conference the gwref is a major sponsor of gwpc's annual uic conference. The conference focuses on multiple uic topics from both a technical and regulatory perspective. The conference was held february 23-25, 2016 in denver.
