I am a researcher at the University of Michigan studying hepatitis C virus in the laboratory. We are trying to identify new targets for possible HCV treatment. The Greenview Hepatitis C Fund has provided some seed funding for a project of mine that is "high-risk, high-reward." Such projects are typically at a stage that is too early to be competitive for federal funding through the National Institutes of Health, and therefore benefit greatly from private foundations such as the Greenview Hepatitis C Fund. I met with the founders of this organization, who were both very interested and clearly very committed to advancing research, education, and treatment for HCV.
