Mission: Greensboro beautiful works in partnership with the city of greensboro to bring private businesses, citizens and community organizations together to conserve and enhance the beauty and ecology of the community. Greensboro beautiful provides funding assistance and volunteer support to initiate community improvement and enhancement projects and programs, and the greensboro parks & recreation department provides staff to coordinate, implement and administer these projects and programs.
Programs: Greensboro's public gardens - greensboro beautiful has developed four distinct public gardens with the generous support of private contributions. While greensboro's gardens offer visual and sensory enjoyment, the impact goes beyond the surface of physical beauty. The gardens grow more than trees and flowers; they nurture strong communities by contributing to education, environmental conservation, health and recreation. The gardens are open year-round. Hours vary throughout the year. Admission is free.
events in the gardens - garden events are funded by private donations to greensboro beautiful from the community, with promotional support from wfdd public radio for the piedmont. Admission is free to all events. Events include groovin' in the garden, parisian promenade and art in the arboretum.
tree planting programs - these programs help greensboro maintain its tree city usa status. Through these programs, citizens and volunteers play an active role in keeping the green in greensboro. The neighborwoods program supports planting trees in neighborhoods and public areas throughout greensboro. The memorial and honor trees program allows citizens to remember, honor and celebrate with the lasting gift of a tree.
