Mission: Green chimneys is a not-for-profit organization that serves young people who are experiencing significant emotional, behavioral and academic difficulties. It helps young people to maximize their full potential by providing residential, educational, clinical and recreational services that create and nurture connections to the community and the natural world.
Programs: Residential treatment center (rtc)this 88-bed program serves boys and girls ages 6-21 who are experiencing significant emotional, behavioral, and/or academic difficulties and can not be maintained at home or in their communities. The program utilizes the natural environment including the therapeutic farm and wildlife rehabilitation program.
medicalthis program provides medical care for the residential populations in the rtc and residential treatment facility (rtf). Licensed professionals provide medical care such as nursing, psychology, and psychiatry. In addition, the rtc staffs a 24-hour infirmary available to both the rtc and rtf population and prior to its termination of rtf.
community based programsthese programs provide emergency shelter and respite to youth at risk of displacement from home or residential care, 24 hour crisis service and counseling services. The programs also provide street outreach for homeless and vulnerable youth ages 14 to 20. The programs also provide waiver services which include, among many, skill building and counseling services to at risk youth.
