I have been volunteering and attending events at Freen Acres Farm Sanctuary for about four years with my now eleven year old daughter. We love being at the Sanctuary! Tina and John are always so knowledgeable about all of the animals and their individual needs and personalities. The volunteer leaders are very knowledgeable as well and they facilitate very well organized and successful events. The volunteers we meet at the work parties are a nice combination of newcomers and seasoned devotees. Most importantly, the animals at the sanctuary are so loved and well cared for. Weather it’s a special sweater for an old goat, round the clock pain medicine for an arthritic sheep, special diet for a horse, allowing a turkey to live with chickens because that’s where she is more comfortable, every individual’s needs are met with love and compassion. Tina and John run a very professional, educational and compassionate sanctuary. I my daughter and I will continue to volunteer there for many years.
Green Acres Farm Sanctuary is an amazing place to volunteer and feel as though I’ve made a difference. They have a great educational program and encourage all types of groups to lend a hand to explain why they do what they do. From youth groups to companies planning team bonding experiences, everyone walks away with a deeper appreciation for animals and their existence. There’s an opportunity every other Saturday to show up and give back. During the summer months there are tours and potlucks to better understand what a farm sanctuary is and what they do. Highly recommend checking them out.
I don't always have a ton of money to give, but do I have my time, energy, and heart to donate to Green Acres Farm Sanctuary. After attending a few Saturday work parties, two years ago I started volunteering at the Sanctuary at least one day a week. When I'm there, I help clean out coops and stalls of some of the 150 rescued farm animals, as well as assist with health checks and general maintenance around the property. Getting to know the animals as individuals has been one of the most rewarding aspects of the time I spend there, and knowing that the work I am doing there helps the animals stay fed, clean, healthy and happy so that they can continue to be ambassadors for the billions of animals that are killed for food every year when their stories are shared with visitors and other volunteers.
Review from #MyGivingStory
My ten year old daughter and I have been volunteering at Green Acres for several years. Not only are Tina and John very kind, dedicated, and friendly, their sanctuary is beautiful and the animals are so well loved and cared for. We cherish our time with the animals and always enjoy getting to know the other volunteers. We've brought friends along many times and they always leavenimpressed and with things to think about after sharing time with the animals. We highly recommend time and volunteering at Green Acres, it's just a beautiful peaceful place to be.
My partner and I love volunteering for Green Acres. The people who run this sanctuary truly care for all animals. I love being a part of this community and having the privilege of being around these wonderful rescue animals.
When I visited Green Acres Farm Sanctuary two years ago, I didn't know what to expect. I had never been around farm animals and I immediately fell in love! I have become a regular volunteer and have learned so much. The co-founders do a great job educating and I felt welcomed there instantly. With over 150 residents, the work parties are a fantastic way to lend a hand and meet many like minded people. All the animals are well loved and cared for and it's a great feeling to know I'm a part of that.
