Mission: Greater portland family promise, an affiliate of the national family promise program, is dedicated to addressing the needs of families facing homelessness in the greater portland, maine, area. Through an interfaith network and connections with existing community resources, family promise provides housing, meals, case management and community for children and their families experiencing homelessness
Programs: Greater portland family promise began offering its program services to homeless families in july 2017. Nine families were served in 2017, and they were provided with food, shelter, hospitality, and intensive case management. Four of those families were moved into sustainable housing before the end of the year. Family promise developed a network of 13 host and 15 supporting congregations, with hundreds of trained volunteers, to support this work.
