Causes: Animals, Zoos & Aquariums

Mission: The organization's mission is to educate adults and school children about the importance of small animal conservation, especially reptiles, and how to co-exist with reptiles; to conduct conservation programs for both michigan indigenous and global endangered reptiles; to rescue and release or place injured michigan indigenous reptiles, and to rescue and place unwanted and/or neglected reptile pets.

Programs: The glzs began operating from a permanent site for its fully functioning conservation and rescue center. The glzs has also acquired and rescued animals representing fourteen different species of reptiles that were subjected to long-term neglect or unnoticed issues such as parasites. These animals are being successfully restored to full health. The glzs has also begun several self-funded efforts in captive breeding.

sales from the gift shop provides education materials for adults and school children about the importance of small animal conservation, especially reptiles. It also helps to raise the awareness of the public about issues regarding the organization and its mission.
