Causes: Health, Health Support
Mission: To advance the delivery and coordination of health care across michigan through collaboratively leveraging information technology and clinical data exchange.
Programs: Implementation and rapid growth of state-wide health information network among regional tax-exempt hospitals and/or health systems, independent community-based providers, health plans, community mental health, local public health, home health/dme, long-term care and other healthcare stakeholders across michigan. Glhc currently has 129 member hospitals, representing over 80% of the hospitals in the state, over 4,000 physician offices and other provider locations connected to the network representing over 20,000 providers, and 38 additional member organizations. In addition to expansion of core hie solutions including results delivery, laboratory ordering, radiology ordering, physician-to-physician referral management, (see schedule o) and the community health record, this past year glhc added immunization delivery and reportable labs delivery to the state, a behavioral health referral network, admission and discharge notifications, and direct hisp services. Glhc's business model continues to be focused on making services and solutions available to independent community providers and clinics who care for the poor/uninsured/underinsured at no cost to make sure there are no disparities of hie capability based on an ability to pay. These no-cost services and solutions include referrals, direct clinical messaging, results delivery to emr or inbox, lab and radiology ordering, event notifications, community health record query access, and state registry submissions (immunizations, reportable labs, syndromic surveillance). Glhc's community health record solution now includes over 7 million patients in the database and is adding over 2 million clinical messages to the repository each month. Glhc covers all counties in the lower peninsula of michigan based on the service area of those facilities and has expanded significantly the number of providers/organizations connected through its solutions.
