The Company Somebody Loves You, Inc. was established in 2016 by Africa Carter for the purpose of providing a caring and stable long-term home for boys in crisis and in need of a loving and nurturing environment and to keep families close.
Our ministry is for boys in need. These are children who are individuals and come from all walks of life. The Children we serve initially will be boys between the ages of 11 1⁄2 to 21 yrs. old. This will be the admittance age but then once in the home, they will be able to stay till they are 21 years old. This is their home and when they leave for college or career direction, they can always come back to visit or if they need help in their lives.
We believe that children grow and prosper best within a home environment where they can learn about a Higher Power greater themselves, others, the family and life. Our goal is to surround them with adults, who will love, care and support them, so they will grow into his purpose and reach all potentials and help them overcome any challenges and problems.
The children in our care will be protected from all forms of abuse, maltreatment, and exploitation; and we will bring to account adults who hinder that purpose.
Somebody Loves You, INC is committed to helping in every aspect of these young men’s lives. We are a charitable 501(c) (3) non-profit organization and will be governed by a board of directors. We provide residential care without charge to children or families who have a need for placement without regard to race or creed. In making admission decisions, we will only serve those children for whom our services are appropriate or meet the criteria for admissions. We are supported entirely by voluntary donations and gifts.

Somebody Loves You, INC will be a residential care facility and will offer 24 hours, fully certified child care to eight children between the ages of11 ½ years old through 21 years of age. The house will have qualified house parents who will live full-time in the home to care for them. One of our goals is to find ways we can be self-supporting in the future.
Somebody Loves You, Inc. is for children between the ages of 11 1⁄2 to 21 years old that reside locally or in Washington. We will also be marketing to churches, other children's programs, adoption agencies, judges, and grandparents who need assistance in raising their grandchildren.
Somebody Loves You, Inc. will provide residential child care without charge to children who have a need for a home and will be supported by voluntary donations and gifts. We will advertise with the website, radio, and brochures. We will not advertise the local address in advertising or marketing to protect the privacy of the children and house parents.
The Competition We are all about the kids! There are many people and organizations attempting to help children in need, however, as of this time, there are no relatable models that are similar to Somebody Loves You, INC in Washington. The grandparent relations to continue with grandchildren. We would like to continue and foster these healthy relationships with families.
In Washington, we have many treatment centers/facilities and residential care centers for children with severe mental, emotional and physical needs. Somebody Loves You Home provides for children that do not suffer from the extreme forms of physical, mental, emotional disabilities.
The State-run programs are focused on the well-being of the parents and children and the reuniting of the two. Our focus for Somebody Loves You Home is towards the care of the children, versus the care and maintenance of relations with the parents. The exception to this objective would be if the grandparents have a healthy relationship with their grandchild; thus being a part of their lives.

The Company
Company History Africa Carter has always wanted to open up a children’s home for those children who are without the love and security of a traditional family and for them to always have a place they can call their own. She believes that we as a society have a moral responsibility to protect children. Her hope is to establish children’s homes that will give children in crisis a safe haven, family environment and also keep sibling together.
Africa Carter purchased a home to donate the use as a refuge for these children in 2016 and are in the process of getting it ready for the future children and house parents who will live at Somebody Loves You, Inc Home in Bremerton, Washington.
Company Goals and Objectives During our first year we will work towards opening up this home to receive the children for whom our services are appropriate or who meet the admission guidelines. In order to do this, we will need to do the following:
1. Maintain a traditional family oriented home setting where children can develop emotionally, socially, environmentally and spiritually. 2. The children’s home will need to be set up for occupancy for the future children and house parents. 3. The Children we serve initially will be boys and girls between the ages of 111⁄2 to 21 yrs.

old. This will be the admittance age but then once in the home, they will be able to stay till they are 21 years old or leave for college or career direction. They will be able to return to home if they want to visit or if they need help in moving forward in their lives. Our admission policy would still be the same for them to return to the home and it would also depend on whether space is available at the time. We will be setting aside a bedroom in the future for those that may need to return home. 5. The children in our care will be protected from all forms of abuse, maltreatment, and exploitation. 6. Children will attend public school unless specific needs warrant another schooling. 7. We will only admit children that meet our criteria and admission guidelines. 8. We will carefully establish plans that are Christ-centered, family oriented, and dedicated to the development and nurturing of the spiritual growth of the children. 9. Establish and utilize professional skills in striving to learn and to develop whatever talents they may possess. 10. We will give special regard to the uniqueness of each child’s race, culture, and religion while attempting to instill a sense of self-worth, individuality, and the responsibilities as well as the privileges of citizenship. 11. We will examine carefully our services for relevance and will diligently provide the community with child care services. 12. We will advertise, interview and then hire the house parents, etc. 13. Interview and evaluate applications requesting admission to our Child Care Program. 14. Our employees will be provided with opportunities to improve their professional skills and personal relationships with the children they serve. 15. Our services and intentions will be presented openly and honestly. 16. The Little Children’s Home is committed to privately-funded non-governmental child care which keeps siblings together. 17. Competitor Analysis
The Competitors We are all about the kids! There are many people and organizations attempting to help children in need, however, as of this time, there are no relatable models that are similar to the Little Children's Home in Montana. The Little Children's Home is a brand new concept to Montana and this side of the United States, as far as studies have shown. The differences between The Little Children's Home and other programs are of the following:
1. The Somebody Loves You, INC Home is unique in how it takes in children up to adulthood and allows each child an opportunity to return home. This prevents multiple moves that some children experience through Foster care and promotes healing attachments with house parents which are critical for children’s growth. Other programs are specific and not long term and are less than 2 years.

2. Our focus is to keep sibling groups together within the home; this is not always possible in other programs.
3. Typically, foster care and adoption agencies do not allow grandparent relations to continue with grandchildren. We would like to continue and foster these healthy relationships with families.
4. In Bremerton, we have many treatment centers/facilities and residential care centers for children with severe mental, emotional and physical needs. The Little Children’s Home provides for children that do not suffer from the extreme forms of physical, mental, emotional disabilities. Besides the Montana foster care/adoption agencies, there are few options for care provided for children, not within these groups.
5. Government-led programs are not centered on any religious context or foundation; whereas, The Little Children’s Home is based upon traditional Christian-based principal’s within the home.
6. We are unique in that we hope to have these children long term and have house parents with a ratio of 2:8 (2 parents to 8 children).
7. State-run programs are focused on the well-being of the parents and children and the reuniting of the two. The focus for The Little Children’s Home is towards the care of the children, versus the care and maintenance of relations with the parents. The exception to this objective would be if the grandparents have a healthy relationship with their grandchild; thus being a part of their lives.
SWOT Analysis (Strengths/Weaknesses/Opportunities/Threats)
Strengths Somebody Loves You, INC is unique because it offers a non-denominational Christian- based, traditional long-term child care, for children in crisis, and in need of a safe and nurturing environment. We seek to surround them with adults, who will love, care, and support them. We want the children to grow into their God-given potential while having a place to call their own. Our focus is to keep siblings together within the home and to maintain, if possible, grandparent relations. We are also committed to providing excellent care to these children by providing our employees with the opportunities to improve their professional skills and personal relationships with the children they serve. We are all about the kids!
Weaknesses The success of Somebody Loves You, INC Home depends on providing caring and supportive services. It will be very important to be able to retain house parents and any other quality staff. We will develop and maintain human resources policies designed to find and retain good staff.

Opportunities The unfortunate erosion of the traditional parent family unit has dramatically increased the need for these types of services. We believe society have a moral responsibility to protect children.
• “Every year, almost 200,000 children from birth to 3 years old come into contact with the child welfare system; and more than 76,862 are removed from their parents care. They constitute more than one-quarter of all children who are abused or neglected. Of the estimated 1,740 children who died from abuse and neglect in 2008, more than three quarters (79.8%) were 3 years old or younger, representing the largest age group entering care”.
“Two major problems for infants and toddlers in foster care are the lack of ongoing parent- child contact and the multiple moves that some children experience. Maintain or healing attachments with parents is critical for young children.”(A Call to Action on Behalf of Maltreated Infants and Toddlers (Quote/Article Sponsored by American Humane Association, Center for the Study of Social Policy, Child Welfare League of America, Children’s Defense Fund and Zero to Three)

The partnerships they are creating to be able to bring some GREAT resources to the non-profit world for little to no cost are just astonishing! Today I was searching for a language translator to change a German word to English and up pops Grassroots.org, Inc with just the services I needed!!
I had been searching for information on starting a not for profit and wanted to find some easy to use tools to design a webpage.
Further reading of the webpage, I realized that their free resources to help charities succeed is just what I was in dire need of, (due to being technologically challenged and socially a hermit.)
Right away I decided to register, but realizing I didn't have a not-for-profit status yet, I was afraid I couldn't join.
But there it was, the 'volunteer' check box!!!! So I volunteered!!
Finally, I can help others and gain the tools and insight of more qualified professionals.
Thanks to Grassroots.org I can reach the life of my dreams and be a valuable, productive member of the community.

Grassroots.org provides the best forum for nonprofit organizations to network and share their mission and stories. They provide an assortment of business partnerships and free resources from experts who volunteer their time, website, project, fundraising, marketing and administrative tools to help all charities achieve their mission.

We were able to get a Volunteer to re-design our brochure. Recently, we received an offer from a Grassroots.org volunteer to help us with SEO and social marketing. As a nonprofit organization, without the volunteer help from these experts, we are not in a financial position to pay for services we need.
Share the love for Grassroots.org!

Most of our nonprofit's funds are very restricted in use. It's impossible to spend money on graphic design and web design when you are trying to just cover your necessary overhead expenses. Grassroots.org has been a lifesaver! We have found graphic designers for different projects--one was for a logo for our first fundraiser race (to help us attract donors and runners) and the other was for a one-pager explaining what we do to the general public (replacing our tri-fold brochure which was more than 5 years old). These were things we would have had to do on our own (taking time and not turning out as well), or not done at all.
Best of all though, is our new website. We found a designer through Grassroots.org that used a Wordpress template and modified it to suit us. Our old website looked fine but was old technology, so we could not update it ourselves but usually had to pay a company to make even simple text updates. Because of that, it was VERY out of date in almost every way. Now we have a Wordpress site that can be quickly updated at any minute of the day even by staff that are not IT folks. The site looks great too!

I'm on the board of a very small non-profit (less than $15K income per year) and it's important for us to ensure that virtually every dollar collected goes to direct assistance of our clients - people who need food assistance in our town of Bethel, CT. We are 100% volunteer run and need to use a web site and email to get the volunteers in motion when we run our three food drives each year. Yet we don't have the funds to spend on these things! Grassroots has been instrumental in allowing us to have a web presence and email host at 0 cost - which allows us to keep our volunteers and donors informed without taking funds away from our clients. They've been great to work with!

Our small non-profit group has battled with issues like an affordable web presence and fundraising tools. A member suggested we check out grassroots and we are so thankful we did. Thanks to grassroots we now have an attractive affordable web site and are part of the we-care fundraising campaign. The cost we have saved just on the web site is a huge benefit but not nearly as much as simply the exposure the website has brought us. The staff and volunteers have been wonderful to work with and the site has been a god send.

I just founded a not-for-profit corporation and I didn't know much on how to go around and create an impact. Joining grassroots has been very instrumental for me as far not-for-profit is concerned. Here I was introduced to GuideStar and then achieved a gold membership there. Afterwards, I will be getting lots of free tools to run my organization.

Thanks a lot to grassroots for opening my eyes.

I work for a large community mental health provider in SW Ohio called GCB, Greater Cincinnati Behavioral Health Services, and funding for the tools needed for awareness building are nearly non-existent. I am in need of some branding assistance in order for us to present a consistent image in our materials, and looking for some simple graphic design help to improve what we are currently using. On a lark, I literally Googled something to the effect of, "free graphic design help for non-profits" and found Grassroots.org.
Now, I haven't yet connected with any help, but I wanted to leave a review because I had some trouble setting up my initial account, and the assistance I received blew me away! I expected to have to abandon my attempts because we didn't have the correct browser necessary. Val at Grassroots Support, made it happen for me, easily and pleasantly! If my initial experience is any indication, this is going to be the start of a beautiful relationship!

Gulf South Leadership Institute has been a member nonprofit with Grassroots for three plus years, and I am glad to report back with gratitude that we have benefited greatly from the services provided by this amazing organization. Professional volunteers and organizations that give back to communities through Grassroots have saved us tens of the thousands of dollars within the last three years, and for that our words cannot express the extent of our gratitude. Every project challenge we have posted has been met with great expertise and in a timely and professional manner. A big Gulf South Leadership Institute "THANK YOU!" goes out to the staff, individual volunteers and donating organizations who make life easy for nonprofits.

We at Mukuru Slums Water & Sanitation Project,Nairobi ,Kenya have had the opportunity to be a beneficially of donor funding from European Union to address the poor water and sanitation conditions in our community in collaboration with local community.

However, since the implementation of the project, we have been unable to get a sponsor to our project which is currently not operational because of massive insensitivity from the Water supplier who disconnected the water supply to our project due to a debt.

We are now in the dark completely without any option to achieve the project objectives. The project does not have a website where people can have a look at our project mission and vision. Our country does not care less about Nonprofits whether or not affecting community and we have been looking for a well wisher to assist us with even a basic need like a computer .The many organization we have approached only told us that they do not sponsor infrastructure projects.Thank you and looking forward to hearing from you.

I have been interacting with Grassroots.org for a couple of months and the need to put our Nonprofit on the worldwide map was the reason why, by design I fell onto the Grassroots.org website and what a fantastic discovery it was. I realized from the outset that Grassroots.org were in deed a friend and in need to assist other nonprofits especially with good development and maintaining of websites for those nonprofits subscribed with Grassroots.org In fact I do not have an idea of any other organization(s) that is performing the role of designing websites for other organization without an investment .For this we are in deed grateful to Grassroots.org for their role in supporting others even globally.Thank you and keep up the community spirits.

Having a board of directors from all walks of life is difficult - so I found a company called phone.com which could route calls to appropriate people in charge of certain areas - that led me to GrassRoots.org, which we found to be a great help in getting us a discount for the service that we needed so badly.

The only regret is that we were charged full price the second year, after we understood that it would be half price for the second year, and full price the following years. Not sure what happened.

Grassroots.org has a lot of great services for nonprofits and the one we needed the most was the free web hosting. Our animal rescue organization wanted and needed a clean, organized and flexible site to showcase our rescues, our programs, and to generate support. Our volunteers have tons of great ideas but we didn't have the technology to implement them. But because of Grassroots.org, we now do and can make those ideas become realities. Additionally, we plan to take advantage of the free graphic design services and possibly the business consulting in the future. We are very grateful for the services provided by Grassroots.org. It is an organization that really touches many things - the environment, people, animals. It gives nonprofits a chance to make a bigger difference in this world than was originally imagined. Grassroots.org is a great nonprofit that creates even greater nonprofits.

I discovered grassroots.org quite by chance. We applied for their services and now are receiving their phone service for free (for a year). The service is much better than the one we had been paying for over 3 years. We also are utilizing their logo design service which has been amazing! So amazing - we can't truly decide. We are close though. We also plan on utilizing the web hosting services too once ours expires.

Grassroots.org helped our music booster organization set up a website and domain name. It has been awesome! They say you never get anything for free, but we certainly have through Grassroots.org. We built our organization website using Doodlekit provided free through Grassroots.org. The website was easy to set up (especially considering our complete lack of experience in this area), and it is easy to maintain. We've had many positive comments about our website! Even better than free website building and hosting, though, is the Social Ventures Consulting Program grant that we just received from Grassroots. This grant will pair us with MBA students who will work with us to complete the financial portions of our business plan. This is the help we desperately need but can not afford to pay for. As a new and small nonprofit, it is invaluable to be able to access the products and services that Grassroots.org provides. We are very grateful!

Grassroots.org has helped our organization to grow by affording us a presence in cyberspace that connects us to other organizations, donors, and members. Through the various developmental tools offered at Grassroots.org, our association have been enhanced, and empowered to service more of the community. Grassroots.org website and tools are user friendly; very easy to navigate. The associates are very friendly, courterous, informative and helpful via the telephone service; in addition, emails are answered in a timely and professional manner.

I had the privilege of being the designer/developer for one of GrassRoots.org's listed organizations, Break the Chain Foundation. Working hand in hand with one of GrassRoots.org's leading members, Laura, I was able to obtain the necessary information needed to begin a solid partnership with Break the Chain Foundation's contact person, Jamie. Although I have been a volunteer member of GrassRoots.org for a few years, this one project was my first and it was truly a great experience. GrassRoots.org is a great organization and they have an amazing philosophy that is carried on by those who play very vital roles in the day-to-day operations of connecting businesses to those non-profit orgs who are in need. I proudly let people know about Grassroots.org every chance I get.

Well, As most start up non-profits SPAMMO found it difficult to obtain services because we are a cash poor organization. Grassroots.org was a godsend. At a time when me and my board were at an impasse over needs and costs and no real community support at that point, Grassroots.org provided the way to meet those needs without the cost and allow the organization to move forward. Viva Grassroots.org P.S. And I hope to be able to report on Grassroots.org's non-profit consulting opportunity awarded to a limited number of non-profits. This is perhaps the most valuable service that Grassroots.org provides for non-profits. I hope that SPAMMO can be one of those lucky few who can report on its success next year. VIVA Grassroots.org

Grassroots.org has helped our organization grow exponentially. We have a presence now online that connects us to other organizations, donors, and members. The website is easy to navigate, the telephone service is fantastic, and the email system is easy to use, receive messages on and read. We would not be the viable organization we are now and striving to become without Grassroots.org.

Grassroots.org has been very helpful to me in being able to put my book on the internet. I wrote the book to help others rediscover their hidden talents resulting from dysfunctional formative years which prevent us from being our authentic self. From my own healing from damage resulting from my family of origin, I discovered that the steps I took to become whole would work for everyone. So, while it took me several years to write it down, it became the workbook I use in my support groups. From their entheusiasm, I knew it worked. Grassroots made it possible to offer it to the public. Dr. Camille Smith

I stumbled across Grassroots.org when the bottom fell out of our website. We were using a free website application for PTAs and their funding under. Within no time, I was up and running again and our website looked outstanding! I had zero budget for the year as the original site had been free, so I was thrilled to find Grassroots to continue supporting our organization without the dollars.

Grassroots is helping many non profits succeed and better their offerings. I have had two graphic designers that helped with creating letterheads, a new logo, brochures and envelope labels and many other offerings from the toolbox.

When I agreed to revamp the website situation for my spiritual community, I needed something they could use and afford. Being a non-profit organization basically meeting month to month basic money needs with occasional fundraisers for special projects, they actually needed something for FREE. I came across grassroots.org during my search and found they had a wonderful tool for developing websites called Doodlekit. Once we had provided the proof they needed that we are actually a non-profit organization, it became a breeze to begin to use Doodlekit. I was able to transfer the information from our antiquated website to the new one and it looked completely different. Even though the wording was the same, it even looked like the language was updated. I added pictures to the pages, developed a calendar, made a page for listing our officers. I added donation options for our membership including a link to Paypal and amazon.com. What else can I say. We had a wonderful website makeover thanks to the Doodlekit tool in grassroots.org. Viva grassroots.org!

Thanks for sharing your Doodlekit experience! All of our partners donate services to our members, and we are extremely grateful to them and donors/supporters that we have. You’re right that the tight economy has impacted the nonprofit industry, which is why we’ve been trying harder to reach out to nonprofits in the past year. Keep that website running!

We had a doctor to volunteer service and a whole lot of underserved patients on the east side of Austin, Texas. None of us had started a nonprofit. We kept trying to chip away at our friends or folks we knew. Thank God for Google. We desperately needed hosting and an easy way for our nontechnical volunteers to update the website. Enter Grassroots. So we got a great website, friendly and competent tech support, but we also got a WHOLE LOT MORE. Grassroots is helping out nonprofit to get the word out through social media; we are getting fundraising mentoring; and there's a whole lot more that we just haven't gotten to yet! Thanks Grassroots. We can make banners, brochures, and cards now that we have a website. Oh, and grants are a little more punchy with a website as well.

We are Curry County Habitat for Humanity, an affiliate of Habitat International. We had a web site that was static and out of date. I am a Board Member and now a Webmaster. I did a search on line for someone that could help us with a new web site for a low cost because we are an all volunteer organization and our funds are limited. I came across Grassroots.org and found all the help we needed to get a first class web site up and running. And our cost was just the time spent using the great companies and their web building tools that Grassroots has assembled. Our site has just recently made it's presents known on the web so we don't have a lot of feed back yet. However with all the pages we were able to create, we believe that once people find our site we will be able to expand our support base so that the people of Curry County that need help with decent housing, can get the help they need. And the follow up and help from the volunteers and staff at Grassroots is just fantastic. They continue to offer more companies for our use and the support of what is already available is great.

Thanks for the kudos, David! It is such an honor to have helped a local Habitat for Humanity chapter. Watching members become empowered and take charge of their own web presence motivates us to continue our work!

As a Board Member of our small-town Friends of the Library organization, I'm used to encountering resistance to change. Without the free web hosting services offered by grassroots.org, I would never have been able to convince our organization that, in today's world, non-profit organizations can work smarter by using the Internet. Now, I've been able to demonstrate the benefits without arguing with other Board Members about costs. Signing-up with grassroots.org was simple and easy! Their continual update on tools available to us are invaluable.

When searching for a web host for our museum's first website, we were discouraged at the lack of free or reasonably priced services available. If one was available, the site had to carry banners, often with questionable content. When we found grassroots.org we were so impressed at what they had to offer for free! We even recieved web design services at no charge which would have been cost prohibitive otherwise. We have recieved many compliments about our site and the service continues to be incredible. We encourage all of our nonprofit colleagues to try this organization. We know they will be just as satisfied as we are!

Grassroots.org has been an amazing partner for us. When we first started out as a non-profit, we had no idea how we were going to get a website stood up and looking professional. Grassroots.org had the right mix of services to get us started, and they were so helpful in answering questions along the way. We were able to create our own website, one that was professional and user friendly, with great ease. it has now become the hub for our volunteers and clients to get information about our organization.

Grassroots was a life preserver to our sinking website. Our organization had been hosting the web site on a members account but when the member switched to highspeed the website account was deleted. As a non-profit with our average board member age at 70+ we were just about ready to give up on a website. Then a member from the United States suggested I try Grassroots and they were so professional and so helpfull. Now our website is back online and I can manange it myself easily and they have offered other great services which our organization is starting to make use of.

Your webhosting with Tierra.net is lacking - theu need to upgrade their offerings. They provide minimal options and their support is basic. The control panel is out of the 90's, and the website stats setup is lousy. For nonprofits, a Drupal/CiviCRM or Joomla/CiviCRM integrated site would be awesome. These integrated offerings are available many places on the web and it shouldn't be too hard for Tierra.net to offer one if they wanted to. I asked them if I could pay them to set one up for us but they said they don't offer that kind of support. They don't seem to want to do too much.

Thanks for having faith in our work and sticking with us, Avanimalrescue. While our primary focus is on organizations just beginning their web development, we try to include those with technical expertise like yourself! Perhaps if not our hosting resource, our other services may be useful to your website’s growth. We aim to continue providing cutting-edge tools as web and business development evolves. As our own organization expands, we’ll be able to take your suggestions into consideration and build on our programs/offerings!

I haven't used Grassroots because, after I joined, I couldn't get anybody to call me back about your service. I've sent emails and was told someone would contact me. Well, that's been 6 months or more. I have nothing good to say.

Thanks for taking the time to write a review! Sorry to hear you were unable to get a hold of our staff. In our last communication with your organization, we indicated that being contacted via our Volunteer Program is contingent upon a volunteer who, after reading your application, feels he/she can help you with your web design needs. In that email, we also suggested using a web builder to create a site while you wait to be contacted by a volunteer. After that, we did not receive a response on the matter. As a note, you can always contact us via our (800) number or email our support. Any of our staff members will be able to answer any questions.
