Mission: Grant avenue community center & sacred place, inc. (historic grant avenue) provides a cooperative environment for arts, cultural and spiritual activities while preserving a historic and sacred building that enriches lives in the central denver community. In furtherance of these purposes, historic grant avenue owns, leases, operates, maintains and preserves a multi-purpose community center which provides space for religious and publicly supported organizations that are dedicated to addressing these purposes. Historic grant avenue continues to preserve this historic and sacred building, consistent with its mission.
Programs: During 2016, historic grant avenue provided worship and programming space to 20 groups whose mission aligned with the organization's cultural and spiritual mission. These include church congregations, musical groups, dance classes, art classes, life skills classes, martial arts classes, healthy eating classes, and addiction support and recovery groups. Space was rented at modest rates to cover the cost of operations. Historic grant avenue rented space to orchestras and several small music groups, serving between 900 and 1,000 students and musicians for both rehearsal and performance. Historic grant avenue rented space to multiple churches and religious groups for worship, education and outreach programs, serving approximately 250 to 300 individuals. Historic grant avenue provided building space to approximately 2000 weekly users.
