Mission: The organization's primary exempt purpose is to build relationships between grand rapids and its sister cities by promoting understanding and mutual respect through exchanges in culture, art, education, and community and economic development.
Programs: Perugia artprize - partial scholarship to an artist from perugia to enter their work in the grand rapids artprize, and travel to grand rapids to present it. Thousands of tourists at artprize viewed the piece and interacted with the artist.
ga sons & daughters of africa in the civil war - honoring the contributions of african americans from michigan that fought for the freedom and rights of blacks in the us civil war. The families of the men and women were honored at the dinner, with approximately 100 attendees. Money raised was for the ga sister city.
international wine and food festival - all 5 sister cities participate with an item that is from their region, for instance vodka from bielsko-biala, wine from perugia, tequila from zapopan, beer from ga, and sake from omihachiman. Some of the actual representatives travel from the region such as the wine makers from perugia and a chef from omihachiman. All three of these programs touch on one or more of the mission's purpose.
