We’ve belonged to the Grand Junction Gem and Mineral Club for about 4 years now and couldn’t have found a better organization to belong to. The clubs’ purpose is educational and social promoting earth sciences. They hold 2 meetings a month throughout the year (except June, July, August) and a number of field trips for collecting rocks, discovering new places and meeting new friends. The club also offers classes on silversmithing, chain making, lapidary, intarsia, wire wrapping, and faceting. They hold an annual Gem and Mineral show and proceeds from the show help to award scholarships to students interested in earth sciences. If you’re interesting in becoming a member, see our website at http://www.grandjunctionrockclub.org for more information.
