Causes: Arts & Culture, Arts Education
Mission: To educate the public about classically inspired art, the gca sponsors lectures, artistic competitions and exhibitions. Eleventh street arts is a gallery space located in the gca building that offers programs of professional solo and group exhibitions, lectures and social events. The goal is to promote and celebrate the best contemporary talents working in classically inspired representational mode.
Programs: Academic programs:academic programs are comprised of a full time, four year unaccredited program of training classical drawing, painting and sculpture. Continuing education includes year-round monthly evening and weekend classes as well as workshops lasting 3 - 20 days - the bulk of which are scheduled in the summer. A handful of summer workshops in landscape painting are held outdoors. Finally, we offer a program of shared studios and resources to graduates of our program who are getting their professional footing.
competitions and fellowships:this is community-building programming to include representational artists beyond those in our studio. Based on an anonymous online application process, applicants apply to compete in a range of live, artistic competitions in figure drawing, figure sculpture, still life painting and portrait painting. Each summer we schedule a three-week landscape painting fellowship.
