We have never had an issue with donations with this organization. We lived in Miami for many years and our relatives live there and all of us have had great experiences when donating. In our opinion anyone who leaves a valued object of theirs in a donation package is completely responsible for what they have done, not the people receiving the donation.
Review from Guidestar
I had the misfortune of taking a jacket to the Goodwill truck parked at Publics, Miami Lake way, Miami Lakes.. As I was pulling out of the parking lot I realized my jewelry pouch that contained my diamond engagement ring and two diamond wedding bands plus an opal and diamond ring were in the pocket. I went right back to the truck, went up the steps and saw my jacket spread out on the floor. When I asked the man who I had given the jacket to, If he had my jewlry pouch he came in to my space and said,"No you didn't ,in a threatening manner. " I should have called the police right then but, I felt threatend and in shock. I have never been robbed before. I am reporting this as I think this should be looked into so that other Miami Lakes residents will not have this happen to them. I would certainly think twice before having a truck come to my home to pick up donations for Goodwill. I called the next day and a man whose voice sounded like the man who I gave the jacket to said, "Only women work at that stop" Not true.....A man was working that day and I have seen him on other days..I have worked with Miami Lakes Zonta as a volunteer for the past 10 years and will make sure that the word gets around about dishonest people in your organization. The truck number is 31 My husband has been deceased for over 20 years so the jewelry meant something to me and I wanted my daughter in law to receive the diamond. It is too bad that one bad apple can ruin a good reputation of a group. I have litteraly made my self sick over this I wish I had had a gun to convince this man to return my jewelry I am a retired nurse and have worked hard all my life in many different hospital arreas and always believed that people are good. Is that being Naieve? I did send in a written police report. I am considering giving this information to the Miami Herald and Broward News papers. Perhaps that would make pepole more aware of what goes on in charity organizations. And the type of people running themI was also told that this man usually worked Tueday and Wednesday and also worked in Hialeah.
