Mission: Good samaritan foundation (gsf) is a fundraising and grant-making organization dedicated solely to texas nursing. Its mission is to increase the number of nurses dedicated to clinical care and to improve the quality of nurse education and training.
Programs: Nursing scholarships: good samaritan foundation (gsf) annually grants an average of 400 students nursing scholarships. Gsf grants scholarships to students attending over 50 different schools of nursing in texas and/or enrolled in online programs. The majority of scholarships granted are to bachelor's of science in nursing (bsn) and masters of science in nursing (msn) students.
grants to colleges of nursing and other organizations: gsf foundation pledged $75,000 ($25,000 per year for 2015, 2016, 2017) to university of texas medical branch for continuing nursing education. Gsf also granted the university of houston $28,500 to assist in providing 10 full scholarships for nurses advancing their skills in the school of nursing. Scholarships assisted students who were pursuing their masters of science degrees in nursing msn with a focus as family nurse practitioners (fnp).
good samaritan endowment, inc. (the endowment) was formed in 2004 and operates primarily for the benefit of the foundation. The endowment has a board of directors separate from and not controlled by the foundation.
