I had no idea that "Proud Tea-Party" Activists who find Sarah Palin "adorable" are connected with this center.According to these men,liberals have ruined our country. How east it is to say you love Conservatives when you live in the gayest town ever.
I've only just been introduced to the Center. In that short period, I have had only "associations of excellence", so far removed from those I have otherwise made around Palm Springs in the other gay organizations, from charity to for-profit establishments. I look forward to a continued relationship with what I see as committed, like-mined individualists - but with a common purpose - the acknowledged need of the senior and disabled population - for food, for training, for socialization, and mostly - just for a hug - to know you aren't alone. Thanks so much to all of you who make this possible.
My partner and I are new to Palm Springs and could not have had a warmer welcome from all the kind people who work at the Golden Rainbow Senior Center. We were completely impressed with all of the services and programs and decided to volunteer our time to contribute to this fabulous organization. They sincerely care about serving the needs of the LGBT community and are constantly seeking to augment and improve the services and programs they offer. The inspired leadership of Harvey Stern makes this center vibrant - he truly understands the importance of community for our seniors and how it impacts every aspect of health, happiness and well being.
The Golden Rainbow Senior Center is a great community center. They offer classes, events and activities for people of all ages. I participate in the women's book club and attend the women's dances. I have met the loveliest people there and am happy to serve the senior community. Harvey is a great leader and the staff is warm and friendly. Everyone should come by and check out the offerings.
Excellent Organization. I participate in "Fit After Fifty",a twice weekly low impact Sr. exercise program designed for general vitality and to improve balance and prevent falls. As a retired art professor I began an art appreciation series coordinated with current exhibitions at the Palm Springs Art Museum. Each unit has two segments, (1) a film and discussion at the Center followed a week later by (2) a docent led museum tour. The well attended pilot exhibition (Spring 2009) was THE PORTRAITS OF ROBERT MAPPLETHORPE. Two more are upcoming in the Fall
It's absolutely amazing to have been a member of the center for several years and to witness the continual growth. The entire staff truly has their hearts in the right place as far as seeing that the center survives and thrives. It is a resource for the coummunity that is much appreciated by the people whom it serves. Carry on the great work, ladies and gentlemen!
The GRSC is a great resource for the community. The leadership is very open to new ideas and program offerings. The staff and volunteers are very friendly and helpful.
Excellent and dependable service and informative resource. This center provides many needed outreaches and services for the elder LGBT community in the Coachella Valley.
I've seen this center make a difference in the lives of many, many local GLBT seniors, providing a lifeline of food to those on restricted incomes, providing important social networks, providing an alternative to bars for socializing, providing free legal services, counseling and information of importance to GLBT seniors. Most of all it's a safe haven in a world that is still too often judgmental and discriminatory to both the GLBT community and to seniors. And it's fun! Personally I've forged several wonderful friendships by volunteering, but also attending various events and classes. The Golden Rainbow Senior Center is a priceless asset to the whole region.
Golden Rainbow is a great center. The atmosphere is always welcoming and warm. All the staff goes out of there way to help in anyway possible. The activities are well attended;
The Center fills a great need in the Coachella Valley, offering a variety of programs for gray gay, lesbian and transgender seniors.
a truely inviting venue for all..... great offering of events and programs.... i really enjoyed my first year as a member........
A truly fully integrated community-emphasizing Gays but welcoming one and all! The best and ony one in Palm Springs - Frank Hodges
what a wonderful all welcoming center. Palm Springs and surronding communities have needed this for many years. The Palm Springs Order of the Sisters of Perpetual Indulgence are excied to be working with an orginazation that INCLUDES EVERYONE...
This is a service that is very much needed by many and servers a great purpose for our aging and sometimes forgotten community. I am so happy to know that this organization is there for us.
What a great center! They educate, entertain and actually get down to the down and dirty tasks of care and feeding of elderly gay folk who traditionally have no families to do the job! This a Center that goes beyond just seniors providing classes and support groups for youth and others as well. Kudos to the Golden Rainbow Senior Center.
The Golden Rainbow Senior Center plays a vital role in our local LGBTQ community, serving the needs of the most-underserved segment of the LGBTQ community, our elders. From providing essential services to a mix of programs, both fun and educational, to just providing a safe and welcoming venue for our LGBTQ elders to get together with their peers and others, the Golden Rainbow Senior Center is an important and unique asset to our LGBTQ community.

The Golden Rainbow Center has 7 staff members, none of whom has ever identified as a "Tea party Activist.'
