As founding member and longtime Earth lover, I continue to be so pleased and amazed at the devotion and effort that GEC members and leaders put forth.
They have tackled pollution issues that, in the early days, I would never have thought were solvable. So proud of these tenacious and ecology-minded folks who put in both effort and heart.

Glynn County, Georgia, like many old small coastal towns, has an industrial heritage that fueled growth but left a legacy of air, water, and soil contamination. Local and state politicians and regulators seem content to pay lip service to cleanup efforts and health concerns. The GEC plays a critical role in pushing for meaningful action to protect our coastal environment and community.

Protecting the delicate Georgia Coastal environment with it's lovely beaches, flora and wildlife is crucial. The GEC is involved in numerous ecology projects. The GEC oversees and assists in monitering hazardous sites left from previous industries that have endangered our eco system, is watchful of current local industrial establishments waste products, air quality etc. They collect data to inform the public on safe fishing areas and publish guide lines for the consumption of local fish. The GEC is involved with many other public interests to benefit a healthy population and promote a thriving economy for our coast.

When I moved to Brunswick, one of the first things I did was contact this organization for information about efforts to clean up toxic sites and improve air quality. I was (and continue to be) impressed with the effectiveness of this organization in accomplishing important tasks and engaging the community. They definitely have my support.

The Glynn Enfironmental Coalition has been tirelessly improving conditions in this area for years. Our air is cleaner due to their efforts, our environment healthier for families and children, the subsistence fishermen are informed about which fish are safe to catch and eat due to an ongoing program. Our organization has monthly luncheons with informative speakers are we are attracting more and more citizens to these and to our meetings. The coalition has made a really important impact on lives here in Southeast Georgia.

For years the Glynn Environmental Coalition has been instrumental in helping clean up and maintain the environment of Glynn County.
On a personal basis, I know I can call or e-mail and will get answers that are timely and thorough. Recently, I e-mailed asking about recycling a broken computer printer. Within a day my question had been answered and not just with pat answer of "you can try calling . . . ". The phone call had already been made for me and I was given the information I needed.
The monthly meetings are VERY informative. Lots of thought goes into selecting guest speakers.
