Just when I thought I was done with eczema, Global Parents Eczema Research (GPER) was recommended to me. I was encouraged to share my eczema experiences with the Facebook group GPER. Little did I know I was joining a group like no other, as I found GPER’s latest eczema research updates quite thought-provoking. I also got to know that GPER is a compassionate, nonprofit organization that relentlessly helps and supports the eczema community across the world in all the ways it can!
I am greatly indebted to this organization for encouraging me to write, think, reflect, share, and ask questions freely, thereby digging deeper into the multifaceted nature of eczema, which impacts the human body beyond the skin and one’s life beyond physical suffering. Thanks to GPER for giving me a space to share my eczema experiences and insights, however offbeat. I am grateful to this exceptional organization, GPER, that validates everyone’s eczema experiences while still upholding evidence-based research.
I have deep respect for the work of Global Parents for Eczema Research (GPER). This organization plays a crucial role in supporting families navigating the challenges of pediatric eczema—one of the most common yet often overlooked chronic childhood conditions.
What sets GPER apart is their caregiver-led model. They don’t just speak about families—they speak with and for them, ensuring that the voices of parents and caregivers drive research priorities, shape education tools, and influence systemic change. Their Eczema Wellness Hub is a standout example—offering practical, science-backed support for the real-life, everyday struggles families face, including the mental health toll that often goes unacknowledged.
GPER is filling a gap that desperately needs attention, and they’re doing it with compassion, integrity, and innovation. I’m proud to support their mission and encourage others to do the same.
GPER has grown so much over the past few years, they have made great strides to give parents support education and research about a very complicated disease. This is an amazing group that I think is going to find answers or maybe even a cure for eczema the Peer Support that they have is essential for the parents and children that are suffering through this disease. It can take so much away from your life, but by having such a great group of people to confide in and a place to go to for answers that is run by people and parents that have eczema or our caregivers for eczema. Children makes the experience so relatable! I can’t wait to see what the future brings ! Great Job GPER!
I became affiliated with GPER as a parent caregiver to a child suffering with eczema. As an academic psychologist I was not only looking for support but for evidence-based information. I did not want more recommendations of some lotion to buy and try, instead I wanted to communicate with parents who were like minded. GPER was exactly what I was looking for, a nonprofit that was not only advocating for better research but openly sharing valuable information with caregivers in need!
I work with the great people at GPER! They are a passionate and knowledgeable team that truly cares about making a significant impact on prevention and support for children and caregivers. Not to mention their noticeable care for each other as well! I’m lucky to be part of the team!
GPER has taught me so much about eczema.
GPER has made feel less alone about my sons eczema and has given me so much power & knowledge.
GPER is committed to its mission, vision and values. They operate on evidence based science, are innovative in creating opportunity for relationship building in order to include patients and their caregivers in the scientific process of Eczema Prevention. It is truly one of a kind. They prioritize good governance in their everyday management of the organization.
This is exactly what I needed when my son was at his worst 10 years ago. I remember those as dark days. I now work part time for GPER as my passion project because I believe it's fills a vital role in helping others through the dark days. GPER is a small amazing team with a big heart!
Global Parents for Eczema Research is a grassroots nonprofit run by parents who are on the frontlines of eczema as caregivers to their children. They live with eczema everyday and know the struggle is real.
I stumbled upon GPER when I was looking for resources for my daughter who was struggling with eczema in many different forms. I found so much more than I ever imagined through their caregiver support program, podcasts, and research information. GPER empowers parents/patients so that they can play an active and informed role in managing eczema!
GPER is amazing! I first connected with them in preparation for the More than Skin Deep patient drug development conference in 2019. Yes, their research and information sharing are both amazing, up to date, and useful. I love the fact that the organization is relatable. These are real parents who have been where you are at some point and can understand. You're fighting the same fight, to make the lives of children and ultimately families, better through targeted and safe research. Excellent!
Global Parents for Eczema Research (GPER) is a brilliant non for profit organisation. It is pleasing to see them involved in research that is independent. Their Eczema Caregivers program, in my opinion, is the highlight. Eczema caregivers and suffers need help then and there. Having a free support program, with likeminded people is invaluable! Talking to others who understand your situation was always needed and GPER have delivered.
I stumbled upon GPER during one of my internet deep dives while my infant daughter was going through her moderate - severe eczema. I loved that they had compiled all the latest research onto a single page, easy to view and each treatment was very helpfully rated. But then I saw they had a caregiver support program, something I felt lacking in our health care system in Canada. I signed up and had been contacted to just talk. To have someone listen to you as a parent, able to relate with their own experience, really helped me feel validated and seen. It was all the motivation I needed to listen to my gut feeling and move forward. Being a caregiver and an eczema parent is extremely lonely. I very much appreciate and recommend this type of program to any parent who asked how I did it all. Good on GPER for recognizing the need for caregiver support.
My grandson had severe eczema. By age three, eczema covered every inch of his body - even his eyelids, ears and scalp. He could not be left alone for even a few minutes because he scratched his skin to the point of bleeding. Severe eczema effects the whole family. I watched the toll his sleepless nights, constant itching and curtailed activities took on my daughter and her husband. .
The most frightening part was that there was so little information on how to help these children. GPER was started by a parent who wanted to spare others the frustration, isolation and helplessness she had experienced. GPER provides information parents can trust - the latest scientific research, best practices, and parent support all in one spot.
Global Parents for Eczema Research not only provides amazing resources and up-to-date, high-quality information, they also offer a support network for families struggling. Their podcast is also one of my favourite resources they provide!
GPER is amazing. The podcasts have helped me so much to understand my daughter’s eczema and feel like I’m part of a supportive community.
GPER is a wonderful resource for parents and caregivers to just be and not have to explain themselves. Understanding one another allows us as members to take action and find healing together and learn more and more about eczema, our children and ourselves. The research and conferences GPER provides is second to none and I'm so grateful to be part of this org.
I love the Whatsapp groups the most! It's so personalised. Everyone from GPER is super helpful and friendly too. ❤️
I love GPER. It has been a live saver for me and my mental health. I found them and they have become my eczema family. I have found a truly support team here. Everytime I have a question or I just need someone who can listen to me I know GPER is there for me and my family
The only non-profit I know that focuses truly on research focused solutions for eczema patients and caretakers. I'm always amazed at the progress this organization makes and goals it achieves - with excellent leadership in place.
I am Kenyan and a proud mum now. Am happy I came across this organization when I was doing my own research on how to mange my Eczema son. I used to not take my son outside with fear that people might look at him and because he had patches on his face, they would judge me as a bad mum. Gone are those days, I now educate them on what Eczema is and how it can be managed. All this is because of GPER
Thank you team.
GPER is unique in that it is operated by actual parents of children with eczema, just like the families they serve. Caregivers of kids with moderate to severe eczema are the focus of everything GPER does. GPER is designing tools to assist caregivers in navigating treatments, GPER offers a free caregiver support program for parents worldwide and GPER has published many papers in journals on topics relevant to the caregiver experience. GPER has collaborated with other nonprofit organizations over the years and accomplished big picture thinking with the Global Patient Initiative to Improve Eczema Care (GPIIEC) and the Big Ideas Challenge. And while all of these things are innovative and forward thinking, GPER still maintains a close-knit group of brilliant parents that grows daily.
Global Parents for Eczema Research (GPER) is an amazing group because its staff, many donors, and volunteers are actual parents / caretakers with lived experience. The resulting passion is what drives this organization forward. The organization also plays a critical role in keeping caregivers informed of cutting-edge research. I'm proud to be a long-time volunteer with GPER.
A small organization started and run by parents for the parents. Keeping its core values and mission.
