Mission: The mission of the glendon association is to save lives and enhance mental health by addressing the social problems of suicide, child abuse, violence, and troubled interpersonal relationships. The glendon association currently focuses its work on the following five themes, which we consider to be central to the health and happiness of both the individual and society as a whole:"violence"suicide and self-destructive behavior"intimate relationships"parent-child relationships"sexualityour staff reaches out to both the mental health community and the general public through a regular schedule of public presentations and training sessions. Glendon workshops have been conducted at universities, mental health facilities and hospitals throughout the local, national and world communities. Continuing education credits are available for most events to participants from a number of professional disciplines including physicians, psychologists, child care providers, mfts, lcsws, rns, and mfccs. Programs: Presentationspresented 3 free webinars on mental health topics such as what we need to know to prevent suicide and 11 continuing education webinars for a nominal fee for mental health professionals (with low fee option for non-professionals) on mental health topics such as the importance of emotion in therapy. Over 2326 individuals registered for these webinars. Presented 8 live workshops, locally, nationally and internationally on topics such as advances in addressing violence: assessment, attachment and treatment approximately 775 individuals, the majority of them mental health professionals, attended these presentations. Presented 2 new ecourses: "suicide: what mental health professionals need to know" and "making sense of your life: understanding your past to liberate your present and empower your future. " over 1,300 individuals attended our in-depth online courses. Publicationspublished 27 blogs on the huffington post and psychology today on mental health topics such as the importance of relationship in therapy and how standing up for yourself helps you fight depression. The total number of reads as of november, 2017 for psychology today blogs weve published is 13,961,809. (total reads are not tracked by huffington post). Communitydonated over 700 volunteer consultation and response hours to the santa barbara response network, responding and consulting on critical traumatic incidents of violence and suicide in the santa barbara county community. Donated over 500 hours to provide consultation and referrals to at risk individuals and agencies providing services in person and on-line we presented the following community education and training events: -we were lead agency with the out of the darkness suicide walk for american foundation for suicide prevention. Over 350 people attended - suicide prevention event in latino community-casa de la raza over 200 in attendance -media interviews addressing mental health issues. Reached thousands of listeners and viewers online/new mediaour website www. Psychalive. Org, which offers psychological resources for the general public, grew considerably in 2016. Psychalive had over 4 million visitors in 2016. Produced and published original content for psychalive on myriad psychological topics, including healthy parenting, relationships, depression and suicide and violence prevention. Filmfilmed & edited material for 3 ecourses on suicide prevention, a coherent narrative with dr. Lisa firestone and dr. Dan siegel and the fantasy bond. Prepared many video clips for the multimedia presentations for these 3 ecourses. Made the parenting ecourse available to the public as a set of dvds. Continued to improve the presentation of films on pivotshare online streaming platform. Produced numerous video clips for both websites (glendon. Org and psychalive. Org) to elucidate relevant psychological concepts. In particular interviews with dr. David rudd, dr. Peter fonagy and dr. David jobes. These clips are made available to the public at no cost. Prepared video material for many presentations that were given locally, nationally and internationally. Upgraded many of our online webinars to better video and audio quality. Recorded and edited insecurity animation project for use with carolyns line drawings. Filmed and edited our presentation on suicide for atwater prison. Filmed and edited full length interview with psychologist dr. Robert firestone on the fantasy bond for our ecourse and for viewing on our websites.
