Dr. Patti and GirlThrive are an inspiring and powerful combination. I am proud to be a volunteer with this organization. I have witnessed Dr. Patti in action one time when she read excerpts from her book, "Invisible Girls" and another time where she asked me to teach young women some kickboxing at a camp. It was as if these young women stood even taller when Dr. Patti was with them. She has a gift!

I was a recipient of a donation from this organization years ago, when paying the rent was hard to do, let alone keep myself afloat. Aside from the obvious economic help, getting that grant meant the world to me because it made me feel like I mattered - not due to money but because someone or some people thought I was worth it.

Dr. Patti does invaluable work with young girls all over the world. The thing that she told me the very first time I met her, is the thing that helped me through: You will survive and have the life you want to have.

I wish for the women going through abuse that they find such help in their lives.

What can i say.... I came across dr. Patti's site. Wrote her a long email explaning my story. She must check her email first thing in the morning since she wrote me back right away. She sent me a free signed copy of her book which has changed my life. Maybe it has not changed my life as in what and ho is around me but it changed my ability to weave my way around it. I am still weaving, still working, still reading Dr. patti's daily postings and words of wisdom, support and encouragment. I pick up her book when I am feeling like giving up, I go to her site, read the email response she left me... Then I can get back up and continue being a thriver! Thanks Dr. Patti! XOXOX

I am forever indebted to Dr. Patti and Girlthrive Inc. After enduring years of trauma, incorporating joy into my life was a welcome change. Without a Girlthrive Inc scholarship, I never would have been able to experience the joy voice lessons and massage brought into my life. At the time I received the scholarship I was in my senior year of college getting my bachelor's in social work. I also worked as a nanny, and Dr. Patti's scholarship helped me to pay for my voice lessons and massage sessions. Currently, I am in graduate school getting my master's degree in social work and knowing I have the support of Dr. Patti, Girlthrive Inc, and the possbility of receiving another scholarship is a true blessing. I have seen trauma from both sides - I have a personal experience with sexual abuse and right now I am doing my MSW internship at a domestic violence shelter. I see first hand how important non-profit organizations like Girlthrive Inc are. As Dr. Patti so eloquently states, Girlthrive Inc is helping girls not only to "survive but thrive." Thank you, Dr. Patti, for your wonderful work!

I support Dr. Patti and her foundation. Her book is so inspiring just knowing we aren't alone. Through her book she has created this wonderful foundation that helps girls achieve there dreams by offering them scholarships for school or something as simple as a dance lesson or for me it was help getting phone cards so I could keep in contact with my outside support system while I went into an eating disorder treatment center.

This foundation has helped me and so many other girls. Thank you Dr. Patti :)

I am a proud volunteer for GIRLTHRIVE!!
Dr. Patti asked me to be on her board a couple years ago. It has been an honor to help a woman like Dr. Patti who is so passionate about her work with all these brave young women be it personally, through her book, her blog or her foundation.
So many people will not discuss the" taboo" of sexual abuse. Dr. Patti is trying to get people to realize that in doing this, by keeping the girls silent ,it helps no none except the monsters that do this!!!
By giving the girls back their voice it gives them back their power and they can heal and thrive !This is what GIRLTHRIVE does! There is no other organization ANYWHERE that does what GIRLTHRIVE does.
Dr. Patti volunteers countless hours so she can reach as many girls as possible, she donates her book, she is on task forces she answers endless emails and goes through each request for a scholarship personally.

To start Dr. Patti's book is one of the greatest books out there for girls who have been through sexual abuse. The chapters in the book go from emotion to emotion. While reading the book I finally felt that I was not the only one out there. That there were people to talk to, to relate to. The personal accounts in the book really make the reader know that there is a family out there waiting to wrap its arms around you.

Dr. patti does a great job at covering all the angles of sexual abuse. She gets at the feelings of self blame and clearly directs the reader to understand that the abuse was not their fault at all.

I read Dr. Patti's book by the referral of a friend and i got so much out of it. I then emailed Dr. Patti and she helped me through some really rough times. her book not only helped me but also those around me. There were some feeling and emotions that I could not express and by those around me reading the book and talking to Dr. Patti they gained a sense of knowledge. They understood a little more clearly, what was hurting me on the inside.

Dr. patti has a great deal of knowledge that she is eager to share with anyone. Her book captures so many different aspects of sexual abuse. But the best part of her book is that it gives a survivor the hope, strength, and courage to fight back. To get to a place in their life where they feel whole again. Dr. patti and her book certainly did that for me.

Dr. patti and girlthrive helped me get grants to go to school, helped me find courage in myself, and helped me to stand up for what I believe in. Dr. patti has a loving heart which she pours into Girlthrive. Her organization awards scholarships to girls which is fantastic. They help to get the things in life that really make a difference. Sometimes the money goes to getting health insurance, or tuition, or a new computer. For me, i am an Irish Dancer, and needed new shoes. Dr. Patti gave me money to buys new dance shoes. To me this was really important. Dance was my outlet. It let me go to a place where I didn't worry about what had happened, or what i felt during the abuse, or the nightmares that came at night. Dance allowed to focus on the rhythm, music, and steps. Dance took me to a loving utopia, and getting new shoes was very important to me.

Girlthrive is like a net, it and Dr. P are always there to catch you and point you in the right direction. I know that I would not be where I am today without them. Dr. P has a strong personality and thats what get things done. Her advice is always given with great umph and love!

Girlthrive connects girls to girls, and allows us the ability to bounce ideas off each other, and help each other out when need be.

I would recommend her book, and getting involved in Girlthrive to everyone. To girls who are survivors, to their friends and families, to coaches and guidance counselors. I truly believe in Girlthrive and all Dr. Patti has done. I am living proof as well as many other girls.

Girlthrive Inc. is a wonderful nonprofit organization that helps girls all over the world. Girlthrive provides the resources for young survivors to begin to talk about their abuse, and through this narrative process they begin to heal, to shed any guilt and shame, to learn that it is never the survivors fault--that sex abuse is a heinous crime. Most importantly, Girlthrive Inc. provides sexually abused girls the means to recover and repair their pride and dignity through both informal and formal education. Girlthrive Inc. is a grassroots organization that is working to change the culture of ignorance surrounding sexual abuse in our society and bringing opportunities to teen girls to help them grow and explore their creativity and education.
