I would like to say this is the Best organization in the Metropolitan area for Girls, they learned a lot of STEM projects and how to come as a group and share there thoughts individually. I hope my daughter is able to attend more programs that they have to offer. The staff is very friendly and nice, like having a big sister. Thanks again for the experience.

Girls, Inc. is an amazing organization that provides a space for girls, especially girls of color to promote expression and creativity. As a camp counselor for the 2017 STEM Academy, I had an amazing experience working alongside the most insightful and brilliant staff but also learned so much from the girls. I have gained so much from this experience and have truly witnessed how Girls, Inc. provides a physical space for empowerment and lifting each other up when one hits a bump in the road. This summer has been life changing for myself and I hope to work with an organization that promotes the same Strong, Smart, and Bold environment that every girl should be exposed to.

Girls Inc. DC is an incredible facility for young girls where they can learn about sisterhood, empowerment, leadership and safety. As a Camp Counselor for the 2017 STEM and Leadership Academy, I've seen the amazing effects of this center and its employees. Girls from all over the DMV area came to this center during the summer. Watching them forge bonds with each other, make important networking connections with Black female professionals in STEM, and cultivate their own skills has been an indescribable experience. Girls Inc. DC is a necessary center for the community, because the girls we serve are the foundation for communal change.

Being an intern with Girls Inc. DC this summer has been an indescribable experience. The bonds I have made with the girls will last a lifetime. Every day that I am here I feel that I am making a difference in their lives and I want them to know that they are making a difference in my own.

The mission of Girls Inc. is especially important in todays society. Every day staff and volunteer comes in with the mentality that girls are capable of everything and anything and it shows in their actions. Here at Girls Inc. DC we live our motto to inspire girls to be strong, smart, and bold.

Girls Inc. is truly a blessing to the community. In the the six weeks I have spent working with the program through their summer STEM and Leadership Academy, I have seen the young participants not only grow in their knowledge and interest in the world of technology, but also grow within themseleves as they learned to be team players and confident young women.

Girls Inc. DC serves alot of purposes for its community that goes beyond just the educational development of these young ladies. The activities and the staff are wonderful at building these girls up and encouraging them to not only be independent learners, but doers; they encourage these girls to be their most creative selves with no bounds.

Girls Inc. DC is a blessing to the community and I wish I was able to be a part of something this influential years ago.

My experience working at Girls Inc DC has been unforgettable and invaluable to both my personal and professional life. Working as an intern, Girls Inc DC provided me the flexibility to work on a vareity of adminstrative work nonprofits are responsible for. I was also given ample opportunities to connect with and mentor the girls that attended the Summer Academy. For adolescents, Girls Inc DC could not provide a safer or more enriching environment for girls to learn, grow, and shine in. Programming at Girls Inc DC includes STEM workshops, creative and artisitc activities, and sporting events, including a basketball program that taught girls how to play basketball and even attend a WNBA game. I have been able to make lasting friendships with both my coworkers and the girls that are lucky enough to be a part of this nonprofit. Girls Inc DC is an outstanding organization that I would recommend to any young lady to become involved in and any person interested in youth development to work with.

Girls Inc Dc is a great organization. To be a part of such an amazing organization was truly life changing! In coming to Girls Inc Dc, I was looking forward to not only making an impact on the girls but also gaining a learning experience from the girls to also apply to my own personal life. The staff was great and their passion for the girls was inspiring. Working with 40 girls in this program made me wish that I had programs like girls inc when I was younger. I learned a lot and I believe that they are experiences that will definitely help me with my future career. I truly believe all girls should be a part of GirlsIncDC!

Girls Inc of the Washington DC Metropolitan Area is an exceptional program for adolescent girls of the Washington DC area. The program allows girls to explore their interests free of judgement as well as opens doors for them to gain new interests and passions. Girls Inc DC is run by staff- from the interns to the Program Director and Executive Director- who truly care about about the lives and futures of the students who come to the center. They invest all of their passion and energy into providing quality educational programming and mentorship to all girls. The center is a safe space that challenges racism, sexism, and economic injustice. It gives girls the space to explore non-traditional fields that challenge our societies strict gender norms. Girls Inc of the Washington DC Metropolitan Area is a phenomenal place to send a young girl.

Girls Inc. DC is a very organized program that leaves clear expectations for employees/staff/interns. As an intern, I had a wonderful experience and felt that I was able to spend a lot of time really working with the girls. The staff here is approachable, and it's a friendly work environment. My coworkers were very passionate about their work and that made for a very productive summer here at Girls Inc. DC. I would highly recommend sending your daughter or a young lady you care about to Girls Inc. !

Working at Girls Inc. DC this summer is one of the best decisions I've made this year. Before even meeting the girls, the other staff and directors made me feel completely comfortable in my role; once I met the girls, I was completely in love with the organization. Watching the girls learn about STEM, their passions, and essentials of girlhood was great to be a part of. I think it's a great organization to have around, especially in the area that it's in.

Interning for Girls Inc was an amazing experience. I was able to watch 40 girls open up and grow as individuals during the six week summer STEM academy. The welcoming environment encourages self-exploration and learning. Girls Inc DC brings in a ton of different partners throughout the summer, exposing the girls to different subjects, career paths, and activities. The program takes a holistic approach in developing strong, smart, and bold women. Aside from STEM, the program includes sports and health, empowerment sessions, and much more. At the end of the six weeks it was obvious the positive impact that the programming, friendships, and mentor relationships had on all of the participants. The staff works together and supports each other really well. As an intern, you will get to work on a variety of different tasks with the girls and in the office. Overall, Girls Inc DC exceeded my expectations and I had an unforgettable summer working for it. I hope to stay in touch and involved with Girls Inc in the future.

Girls Inc. DC leaders and staff have the heart, passion and tools to reach, teach, inspire and equip the next generation of powerful women in this nation. The environment is inviting, friendly and safe for girls to grow, learn and simply be themselves. Every program at Girls Inc. DC reiterates the mission to inspire girls to be strong, smart and bold. Working with Girls Inc DC was an absolute pleasure! The staff does an incredible job at serving girls and encouraging them to be strong, smart, and bold! The environment is inclusive and welcoming for the staff and girls alike. The programs offered are interesting and fun and help prepare girls to be healthy, happy, and educated women of society.

This organization does an amazing job at inspiring and motivating middle school and high school girls to stay on track to graduate and go on to college. I was able to be a part of the staff that worked with an amazing group of girls, and through the mentorship, camps, programming, and support that the girls received there was a noticeable difference in the girls attitudes and goals after just a few short weeks.

What better way to inspire the young girls of the Washington, DC Metropolitan area to be strong, smart and bold! As a DC native, I was looking for a way to personally give back through volunteer service, financial donations and sharing any of my skill sets that I have gained through my career. I made this interest known to a colleague at my job who introduced me to Girls, Inc.

I was immediately impressed by the dedication of the staff and Board. The number of programs and experiences offered to the girls is amazing. For example, the recent summer camps at the facility located on the campus of Howard University included The Cyber Ninja Girls Camp and the Space Aviation Camp. These camps included STEM focused programming as well as field trips, meals and snacks for free or at a nominal rate for each girl. During the year the girls have participated in trips to the White House and focused on improving their financial literacy through programs that allow them to gain a better understanding of savings and investing through actual hands-on participation.

My hope is that others take a look at the great things that Girls Inc. is doing to impact the lives of these girls!

Girls Inc. is truly a great organization. Working with the girls here in DC has been such a fun and great learning experience. It's truly a joy being able to work with the girls during the week. The program allows girls to learn a lot more about society, social issues and how to combat those issues as women. Volunteers and interns have the opportunity to help create different lessons for the girls. The girls have learned about a range of things from career goals and starting businesses to dealing with peer pressure. The girls are able to build a strong bond and personal connection between volunteers, facilitators and mentors by working in small groups. I've seen growth from each of the girls and I believe that with the help of Girls Inc. they will grow into strong, smart and bold women!

Coming in as a volunteer I was able to help out with multiple administrative tasks. I love the fact that volunteers, facilitators and interns are given multiple opportunities to expand their skill set. Overall, Girls Inc. DC has definitely been such a great place that I'm proud to say I'm apart of and I'm excited to see what the future has in store!

I have been acquainted with the mission of Girls Inc. since my childhood in Philadelphia, PA. I have always admired the life-changing experiences the organization has provided girls who have had little or no access outside of their immediate community. The social mission of the organization has always been admirable and reflective of the values which my family instilled in me. My introduction to the Washington DC Metropolitan Area Chapter occurred 2 years ago when one of the founding Board members invited me to an annual fundraiser. I was excited to be asked to join the Board. As a member of the Girls Inc. Washington DC Metropolitan Area Chapter, I am contributing to the goal of ensuring that women in the 21st century are smart, strong and bold. I feel enthusiastic and energized about my contribution. I love putting my skills to work for an organization that is personally very important to me, and part of changing the world.

I first became aware of Girls Inc. at a national luncheon held in Washington, DC in 2003. I have always been committed to women's equality issues and the work of this organization struck a chord with me -- let's give girls the tools to succeed before they need to fight in the workplace for equality.

Thus I joined the board and for the past 4 years have served as its chair. I am continually impressed by the quality of the programs and the professionalism of the organization. As a local affiliate we have access to the curricula developed by professional educators in the Girls Inc. institute. Furthermore, all Girls Inc. leaders are trained before delivering programs and individual and program success is assessed routinely.

We focus on middle school girls -- the age when girls start focusing more on social issues and less on school, particularly math and science. We have strong programs in STEM, partnering with local universities, government organizations, and corporations to provide content. The delivery of these programs remains consistent with our mission: Provide girls with the tools to be STRONG, SMART AND BOLD as they move into adulthood.

Our programs differ from many other important programs in the city. We do not focus on remedial or tutoring goals. We focus on building character, grit, future focus, strength, curiosity, and self-esteem. These attributes are growing in attention in the education community and we agree with the experts -- wanting to succeed and having the belief that one can succeed are critical components of becoming leaders and successful citizens of our society.

I am honored to serve on the Board of Directors for Girls Inc. DC. It is extremely rewarding to be involved with an organization that is providing life-changing programs to help girls become healthy, educated , and independent women. Seeing the progress of the girls that participate in our programs - the confidence that they develop, the leadership roles that they undertake, and their enthusiasm to continue learn and grow - is confirmation that our girl-focused, research-based programs can make an incredible impact on the lives of our girls. Hearing from successful women, who attribute their success to having been involved in Girls Inc. programs, reaffirms that we are making a difference and helping girls change the world!
