This is such a great organization. I was a co-leader with my girlfriend. Our daughters started in 3rd grade and went all the way through 12th grade. For our bridging to adults, we took eight 18 year olds to Europe for 2 weeks and bridged over the London Bridge. I know the Girl Scout experience empowered my daughter in everything that she does. Thank you...Thank you...Thank you

I was a Brownie Girl Scout when I was about 7 years old and a GS for a short time in junior high school, my mother would let me go camping so I dropped out.

Then as an adult I was a Girl Scout Leader for 25 years for the GS of Greater LA. First for my daughter then for my niece, I can't tell you how much I learned from being a leader thought GS adult training and from the girls. I met some really wonderful ladies and girls that are still part of my life today, I was lucky to have many good co-leaders and one really great one that grew so much as a co-leader that she is still involved in GS today. I hope to start a troop for my granddaughter this year at her school.. I know that the skills that the we taught the girls have stayed with them and have helped them in their adult life..

I remember being in the Girl Scouts briefly when I was in third grade. I had fond memories of that short lived membership. When I had the opportunity to have my daughter join, I jumped at the chance. Then I found out I could be a Girl Scout as well. The troop disbanded but I decided to take the challenge of building the troop again. This will be my second year in command of the SMGS Troop 5255. I am very fond of my girls and hope to sign on more girl scouts. It is amazing what these girls can accomplish with the right training. Girl Scouts as an organization offers a lot of leadership, encouragement and nurturing. The programs are excellent and the camps are fun to attend and be a part of. I as a troop leader also get engaged in the learning. I too have gained so much knowledge and have grown as a leader. I recommend that each parent enroll with their girls. Girl Scouts brings girls together...to get her there...more like them there.

The Girl Scouts of Greater Los Angeles is open to membership for all girls from kindergarten to 12th grade, and belonging is a life changing experience. The best part about being a Girl Scout is the positive atmosphere that is provided. Girls learn about independence and leadership while having fun with other girls. They plan together, and then carry out their plan. I have been a volunteer here for over 30 years. In that time I have been a leader and seen the growth and confidence that girls gain by being a part of Girl Scouts. Currently my role has changed, and I now support the adults who support girls. I have had many "jobs". Some that last a few months and some that last for years. Being a Girl Scout is like belonging to a club. You always feel that connection, and it is fun. But the real reward comes from seeing how girls grow into confident young women. I recently read the blog of a Girl Scout Gold Award recipient who just graduated from high school. She is off on her next adventure as a college freshman. She decided to keep a blog of her college experience, an "online diary", she called it. The first thing she blogged about was her Girl Scout experience and how it has made her more confident. She is going off to college a week early as she was chosen to participate in a week long community service project - something she learned as a Girl Scout - service to others. I am proud to be a member of Girl Scouts of Greater Los Angeles.

I love GSGLA. I grew up in LA and was a Girl Scout most of my young life. Now I have a daughter who is enjoying all the fun stuff I did as a girl. GSGLA has so many wonderful leaders and staff. I feel so lucky to be part of this amazing group.

Working as a volunteer for the Girl Scouts of Greater Los Angeles for the last years has been fulfilling. The focus is on the girl and girl programming. Every effort of the staff and volunteers expands the opportunities for the girls and provides guidance for their future. Girls go on to accomplish wonderful achievements because of Girl Scouting!

The Girl Scouts of Greater Los Angeles continues the over 100 year tradition of building self esteem, confidence, and life skills in girls. I am a proud Girl Scout leader and I love to watch my troop help in the community. I was a Girl Scout as a child and I'm thrilled that my daughter is one as well.

This is one of the few organizations that can help guide girls and young women into doing great things in the community and leading great careers later on as well.

I have been a volunteer for 12 years with Girl Scouts. Since the begining, GSGLA has been a great organization to be a part of. I probably spend at least 2 hours a day doing something for GSGLA. Anything from troop leader, service unit team member, and Communications GO team. GSGLA is an amazing place to volunteer for. They treat us like we are family. My daughter and her troop just graduated from 12 th grade and I have 2 girls that are now adult volunteers in GSGLA and 2 that will be volunteering at other Girl Scout councils.

Girl Scouts is a critical organization for girls ages 5-17. The values, experiences and relationships built cannot be found or matched by any other organization. The organization continues to evolve with the times and help girls from all socio-economic backgrounds grow into capable, confident women. Girls having a safe space to learn and overcome challenges especially in the middle and high school years is a crucial part of the success of Girl Scouts.

Volunteering for this great organization has afforded me many opportunities for service, learning and even fun! You can volunteer to work with girls, on special projects or events (just to name a few of the many options). One of my favorite activities was a huge Camporee we did - there were hundreds of girls and adult volunteers and it was such a time of discovery and memory-making.

Girl Scouts has been a wonderful experience for not only me, but also many other girls in the Los Angeles region and more. Leadership and confidence is promoted so strongly and girls everywhere gain more character! This program has definitely helped me in not only my leadership and confidence but also to broaden my heart and care for others.

It was my privilege to be a Girl Scout leader for 17 years. Both of my daughters were in Girl Scouts until their senior year in high school and both earned their Gold Award. I enjoyed teaching my daughters, and the other girls in my troop, the meaning of courage, confidence, and character, and about making the world so better place. This program has made a difference in my life, and in the lives of all the girls in my troop.

I am a troop leader for a cooperative Girl Scout troop in Redondo Beach, CA, in which other parents share the leadership and therefore the personal development that goes along with developing that leadership. Girl Scouts is not only good for girls, it is good for families. The program encourages personal health and growth.

Last year, I interviewed our Brownie Girl Scouts to determine whether they were eligible for the Journey Summit Award, the highest honor that a Brownie can earn. One of the questions that I asked them is how has working on the leadership journeys helped them to become girls of courage, confidence and character who make the world a better place. Here are some of the responses:
"I used to be more shy, and now I know that people actually listen when I talk."
"If there is a problem at school between other kids, I try to help them to solve it."
"I helped a new kid to make friends and find people to play with."
"I learned that everybody makes mistakes and it's okay."
"I will play with brown kids more."

I have been in Girl Scouts in GSGLA for many years now. This organization has really impacted my life and I could give pages of examples, but I don't think you need all of it. Just know that GSGLA is wonderful always teaches their girls how to be the best they can be, all the time, doing anything.

Girls Scouts of Greater Los Angeles is a well balanced & healthy organizations for girls to turn into strong and confident young women of our future. My daughter has been in the girl scouts for 6 years and has matured in those years. Blooming young girls have gone on to become very successful Women of Our Decade, hope my daughter will follow in their footsteps.

Girl Scouts has been a wonderful experience for my two daughters and I, as a leader. It has taught them wonderful leadership and life skills and given them opportunities to go on many fun adventures that they would not have otherwise done.

My daughters have been members of Girl Scouts of Greater LA for many years now. The breadth and depth of the program Girl Scouts of Greater LA provides for girls is unparalleled. Through Girl Scouts, my 10th grader and 6th grader have had the opportunity to go camping, hiking, rock climbing, surfing; they've learned how to quilt, how to cook, and how to build rockets; they've visited homeless shelters to learn about their mission; they've built business and leadership skills by organizing and leading their own troop meetings and by handling troop finances related to cookie sales. I don't think there's any other organization that is as committed to and focused on the development of girls the way Girl Scouts is!

I recently joined the Board of the Girl Scouts of Greater LA and was so impressed with the mission and programs for girls that I immediately signed up my daughter to join a local troop as a Junior. I'm excited for her to be part of this great organization that builds girls of courage, confidence and character that will make the world a better place.

This past summer, our troop went camping to Camp Osito Rancho. The experience was amazing. First of all, our girls had a fantastic time, filled with interesting and fun activities. The camp site is very well run/maintained and I was most impressed with the quality of the camp leaders. Every single one of them was fully dedicated, knowledgeable and professional. Every girl should be able to share in such a fun camping experience which equally contributes to her overall development.

This is my 5th year as a leader in GS - Los Angeles and it has been a fabulous experience for my daughter and the rest of the girls. They have given back to our community, developed leadership skills and had experiences that will last a lifetime. The summer camp program is great and offers extended care for working families - something most others don't. We are very appreciative of the activities offered in scouting.

I am a Brownie (soon to be Junior) Girl Scout Leader volunteer. I only intended to enroll my daughter in a local troop but instead ended up beginning one of my own. We have been Troop #6974 for 2 years now! It has been a tremendous blessing to us both. By giving much to our community (including helping children who live in a local hospital's subacute unit, helping with cards and gift baskets for our military in combat areas, and many other service opportunities), we have been given the upexpected rewards of satisfaction received upon doing even our small parts to help alleviate some of today's current difficulties. We have also become more than friends with our troop...we are truly a unified family!!!

I am a Girl Scout parent and have three daughters in Scouts. They learn to develop and hone maturity skills in all kinds of ways -- from community service to the outdoors, to caring for the environment and learning to get along with others...along with creative crafts, social and cultural events, trips and outings. Scouts has it! It's the premier place for girls to learn leadership and to do and be on their own. The focus is for girls to originate, plan and DO! Adults do not do program for them. The girls learn to write their own program. As an international network, the opportunities are endless. I was a scout myself for 8 years and it did so much for me. I could not recommend Girl Scouting more highly.

This group is Awesome. Our adult volunteers love the girls they serve and the girls love the communities they serve. Girls Scout troop 3135 volunteer twice a month to serve at the Gardena Elks Club. This troop also has had the opportunity to present the Flag Ceremony at a Dodgers game. Girl Scouts do service projects just about every month. Our troop8885, has done everything from decorating flowerpots and planting flowers and giving them to the senior center. In earning the Bronze award our troop collected yarn and sent the yarn to a group that makes outfits for sick premies. The girls also have leadership learning experiences and have positive role models. This group provides wonderful opportunities also- the girls earn their way on trips that some may not be able to afford otherwise. They are learning the value of work and the value of money.
