My recovery from cancer treatment has been full of obstacles. But benefitting from activities at Gilda's Club South Florida has made the journey less onerous. I take advantage of an organized support group and stimulate my creativity by participating in painting classes and events. If you are navigating the cancer challenge road it's worthwhile engaging with Gilda's Club.
Sr Management is extremely rude, micromanaging, unreasonable. Over 100% turnover. They are broke due to mismanagement at the top. They can't afford the building they are in and are all high strung about it. I would not donate to them; they are not nice people.
I became involved with Gilda's club approximately 7 years ago. Shortly thereafter I "retired from my regular day job" and became more involved in the not for profit and community service world. From the beginning, I knew that Gilda's was different - the energy and focus it gives to its mission - so that no one has to face cancer alone - was very intense. For those that have the disease; and for those who tend to those afflicted. The programs and services it provides educate, support, and console through education and building community. Through the covid era the club has grown as have the programs, the number of members, and attendance. We have moved into a new facility that offers the ability to deliver more programs and support. Truely, an efficient, effective, and caring provider worthy of five stars.
It’s so nice to see Gilda’s continue to resume activities & programs in the new, much bigger, Gilda’s Clubhouse. There’s plenty of room for social distancing throughout, even in the large cooking-lessons kitchen.The coming holidays will
once again be celebrated in the clubhouse, starting with Halloween, with plenty of room for persons of all ages.
I am happy to recommend Gildas. They have been around long time. They do great work. Their new building is amazing. A well run outfit. They ought to be quite proud.
This club is amazing. I cannot say enough good things about it. The family at Gildas South Florida has meant the world to me in our hour of need. God bless all of them!
I first heard of Gilda's Club through my Mother-in-Law who had volunteered there for years. When I was diagnosed with breast cancer, I went straight to Gilda's Club. They were a calming influence when my head was swimming with my own cancer diagnosis, as well as offering support to my family as well. I took their yoga classes which were as good mentally as well as physically for me & gave me something to look forward to every week. Unfortunately, my Mother-in-Law, who had volunteered all those years, became a member when she was diagnosed with Stage IV lung cancer. Their support groups were a big part of helping her cope with her difficult diagnosis. Gilda's Club is an invaluable organization to our community because everyone is affected by a loved ones cancer diagnosis.
