Mission: German Shepherd Search Dogs of Washington State (GSSD) formed in the late 1960s as an offshoot of a German Shepherd Breed club and is one of the oldest operating volunteer canine search groups in the U.S. Today the organization has dogs of many different breeds as well as German Shepherd and has established a long-standing reputation for fielding professional caliber dog and handler teams trained to search in a wide variety of terrain and weather conditions. Though the team is based in the Puget Sound region, we have responded to search requests in Alaska, Idaho, Oregon as well as many other regions within Washington.
