I echo the other experiences here as well. Big talking coach with no experience in baseball outside of "daddy ball". Lots of promises are made, professional experience claimed but nothing to back it up. My son left this team with a fast talking talking, BS coach with an explosive temper not wanting to ever play baseball again. Sad to see such people and teams out there who get by with talking up new parents and new kids every season yet never winning tournaments. That speaks volumes!
Be aware of what you are paying for, as not all have former pro experience. Case in point, one of the owners, who's also a coach and charges pro proces, claims of pro experience are lies and easy to vet with simple google searches and phone calls. Give each place he says he's played for or worked at a call. You won't find a single one has heard of him. He has NO minor or major league experience. No overseas experience. What experience he does have is having a fast talking game and explosive temper.
He will get parents to leave positive reviews as damage control whenever there is questionability.
They will claim no salary is being made, but tax filings all the way back to inception, are by law for the public to view. Looking back to past filings, you can see how much the officers, aka owners, make as a base salary. They are not working for free out of the kindness of their hearts as they state.
If looking for professional experience for your kids, consider other organizations that can be vetted with a background that isn't a claim, but substantiated.
My son's first season was the Spring of 2017 and everything seemed to be legit and I initially gave them a 5 star rating. They played tournaments every weekend, had practices which included actual baseball drills, and they received practice and game uniforms. Because of the experience in the Spring, we decided to return for the Fall season. This was definitely a mistake. There were never any tournaments scheduled or played, uniforms never received, and practices that consisted of running only. To top it off, they charged $1500 for the Fall and $2000 for the Spring season which is all required to be paid by the middle of December. Of course, we were upset about the quality of services received so we asked for a refund. We were told they would not give us a refund and to write it off on our taxes as a charitable contribution since they have their 501(c)(3) status. In essence, this should mean they are a non-profit organization but somebody is making a profit since the fees they are receiving are not providing the players with anything which are typically included player's fees of any travel ball team. My all means, I suggest you stay far away from Georgia Stars Baseball Academy and all of their affiliates.
