Georgia Dog Advocates does a little of everything - rescue/foster, distributing preventatives and free dog food, and providing free spay-neuter for dogs in families who need a little help. The compassion in this group really comes through at every outreach event with conversations with each dog owner to see where GDA can educate and assist - whatever the need may be. Meeting needs is all about getting to know people, and this is what GDA does really well over and over, through conversation and follow up. Many people return to our events to see us and share how their pups are doing! We are building connection and community, and the result is people feel supported. And the bottom line is dogs and people are getting much needed help.
Georgia Dog Advocates neutered both my labradoodle and golden doodle. They offered chipping and flea and tick meds, if needed, and toys as well. I cannot praise them enough for caring and offering a much needed service to our community.
I met Lisa a few years ago and quickly learned that her love and commitment to dogs is unmatched. I admired her work so much that I started volunteering with her when she started GDA. I can truly say that GDA is an organization where 100% goes to the dogs! It’s exciting to see the amount of dogs we’ve helped so far and I can’t wait see what the future holds for this organization. From helping families alter their dogs, vet care, preventatives, supplies, and food, GDA is making a difference in the community and helping loved dogs stay in their homes and out of shelters.
Georgia Dog Advocates is an amazing local group I would recommend to anyone seeking assistance with their animals! They helped my male dog tremendously by assisting us with a free neuter, flea meds, and a microchip! Such genuine, caring people. We are very grateful for this organization!
Ellie Belle was a stray. Hungry with dirty, matted fur, soulful eyes and a sweet disposition. When I adopted her I wasn't equipped for a dog. I had a 4 pound bag of dog food and a borrowed leash and collar. I saw an ad on Facebook for Georgia Dog Advocates. They paid for her to spay & immunizations, gave her a leash & collar of her own, a big bag of dog food & some treats. I'm so grateful to GDA for helping Ellie and I get the best possible start together.
They are an amazing group, that go above and beyond to help any dog in need. They helped me get both my boys neutered, one of which isn’t dog or people friendly (Arlo)but he LOVED everyone he met that day. That alone says a lot about them. But they also helped out my talkative little guy(Toby).
Georgia Dog Advocates is doing AMAZING work in the community and surrounding areas. Not only do they help homeless animals get veterinary care and get adopted, but they are also helping pet owners care for their animals so a dog can stay in its home by offering food to those in need, spay/neuter services, etc. As someone who has previously worked in rescue, and now works in the vet field I am always highly impressed with the many ways they are making a difference.
I first heard from Lisa Peltier two years ago, when she found out, from a dog adoption organization, that my son adopted a special needs dog. Divot was a one and a half year old mixed breed boy that had been found on the side of a road, had mange, was starving,
was diabetic and going blind. She knew that Divot's care was going to be expensive and she wanted to help. She had received donations from individuals that had lost their own diabetic dogs and wanted give them to someone that needed them. My son received insulin, testing kits, special food and even toys and leashes! Today Divot is thriving and is loving his life. GDA continues to remember Divot and my son is grateful for their gifts. He knew that caring for a dog with Divot's needs would be a lot, but he wanted to give him a good life; and Georgia Dog Advocates had helped!
Georgia Dog Advocates is a true “boots on the ground” welfare group that makes significant differences in the lives of dogs and people in the community. They are often filling important gaps to help owners provide medical care and food for their dogs and doing the critical work of making sure spays and neuters happen. They have saved countless dogs from living in miserable environments. In addition, they support other rescue groups in many ways, including taking on a huge project to get important supplies and meds to rescues all across the state of Georgia. I am very impressed with Georgia Dog Advocates and I’m very thankful to them for finding solutions to help countless dogs!
Georgia Dog Advocates (GDA) fills a huge gap in the animal welfare community. Helping people keep their pets through education and resources is a critical need. Helping people get their dogs spayed and neutered prevents more dogs from entering our already overwhelmed shelters. Georgia Dog Advocates goes into animal control facilities to take professional photos of the dogs in need of adoption. This gives the dogs more exposure and helps increase their chances of being adopted.
Georgia Dog Advocates personally helped me get SIX yard dogs in rural north Georgia into Rescues. The poor dogs had been living in a lady’s yard for over a year having multiple litters of puppies, roaming, and overall were severely neglected. Georgia Dog Advocates met me at the location… talked with the caregiver, provided dog food, administered much needed flea/tick meds, assessed the dogs, and got to work to prevent more unwanted litters and disease. We worked together as a Team and got the dogs into Rescues. All six were spay/neutered, vaccinated, and adopted! Georgia Dog Advocates is one of the few NonProfits in Georgia that focuses on prevention. I have seen their work first hand and they get my vote for the 2024 TOP RATED NONPROFIT.
I have known the founder, Lisa, for several years now. Georgia Dog Advocates is the most amazing organization. They don't just help rescues, but they help shelters, rescues, and individual pet owners. Their philosophy that helping people who need assistance with their pets (whether it be through vetting or simply providing food during hard times) keeps dogs out of shelters works! Georgia Dog Advocates have provided so much assistance that I know they are making a noticeable dent in the needs of the rescue community as a whole. I will continue devoting my energy, time, and donations to help them in their mission as it is near and dear to my heart and the work they are doing is an absolute necessity.
As a donor and volunteer, I have had days of joy (community outreach, meeting people who truly love their dogs, being able to assist, especially with neuter) and days of tears and anger (you can imagine some of the horrible things). Donations and resources are carefully used with compassion and wisdom.
This is the hardest working dog loving group I have ever witnessed!! Seriously, it’s like they go non-stop, 24 hours a day (and they have families)!! I am proud to follow Georgia Dog Advocates, and help (donate and volunteer) when I can. So thankful for them and their hard work and love for dogs!!! ❤️❤️
