Mission: We are a volunteer, community based, non-profit 501(c)(3) organization dedicated to promoting the sport of sailing. We are committed to community -wide participation through outreach programs emphasizing youth, learn to sail, and race training.
Programs: The sailing center host's regatta's several times a year. Our high school teams in the south atlantic district(georgia, florida, tennessee, south carolina and north carolina) compete throughout the year to secure a spot at the district championship regatta and hopefully the national championship regatta.
ssc offers various sailing programs throughout the year reaching over 300 children and adults. Our saturday lessons are given during the year for adult's and children of all ages and different sailing abilities. We offer full day summer camp lessons which help the younger children learn to sail. During the school year we offer competative sailing lessons with coaches for our high school and college teams. To secure instructor's for ssc we conduct an instructor's course which is certified by the us sailing association. We also have offered special classes for several civic groups as an introduction to sailing. We have offered a middle/elementary school program in the fall and spring to attract the younger sailor and get them ready to compete at the high school level. We offer a regatta for children with autism, to give back to the community, and is free of charge for the families with these children.
