Mission: Offering housing and shelter to women and children recovering from domestic abuse to allow them time and resources to rebuild their lives through: support groups-to help deal with emotional trauma and share experiences. Trained counselors are available. Job training-to provide education and learning to enable job placement in the community. Professional volunteer trainers and teachers provided. Parenting classes-to help develop skills and knowledge for childcare. Drug and alcohol prevention education-to help avoid the dependency on drugs and/or alcohol. Domestic violence prevention education-to enable escape from abusive homes by restoring self worth and confidence. Mentors available. Health/wellness education-to teach healthy lifestyle choices, including nutrition education for children. Provided by qualified volunteers.
the genesis house has provided services to those recovering from domestic abuse. Women and children have been served. Services provided, but not limited to, were: emergency shelter, food, group therapy meetings, budget planning, safety and survival planning, employment referrals, legal service referrals, assistance with protection orders and reports to law enforcement, child care, transportation, domestic violence protection education and friendship.
