This organization believes in , Honesty, Excellence, Accountability, Respect, and Trust. I thank you enough for the support and mentoring of GLTC. The sacrifices and time will be bless by the Almighty God. Because of the continue learning for students and sharing of the Good News.
I've been supporting Gbarnga since it's inception because of it's effective, efficient and, most importantly, it's loving, compassionate and caring development of Christian education and community wellbeing for the people of Gbarnga. Students are learning to provide for themselves with access to education, healthy diet and pure water. I've had the joy of sponsoring a child and thereby knowing first-hand the positive impact of the mission project on his life and the lives of his classmates. And electric power independence for the project is also an important development.
The hard work and dedication of the staff at the Gbarnga Lutheran Mission Project Inc., is unmatched. I look forward to their online updates which allow all donors to witness the great works at hand. I am always surprised at the new and innovative approaches to the issues they face and will continue to donate to this worthy cause.

I have known Jon Rossman my entire life. He told me about his work with the Gbarnga Lutheran Mission and I was so impressed with the work he, his wife and family were doing, that my wife and I felt compelled to make a donation to support their collective hands-on efforts. For years we have made an annual donation to Child Fund (another worthy charity). However, my wife and I appreciate the transparency of the Gbarnga Lutheran Mission and look forward to an opportunity to help in the future.
Great Mission effort. From startup to 6th grade school and health clinic in 10 years. Amazing example of what God can do through those that work for the good of others. These children have a chance now. Our charity, Orphan Grain Train, has donated many items to them, including 8 treadle sewing machines to help with their sewing clinic. Treadles because they don't have reliable power in the villages. Also sent over 40 school desks and other health and education items. A great organization.

Great effort to assist those in need, especially children. We support two students and our charity, Orphan Grain Train, has had the privilege of donating medical and hygiene supplies, school supplies and sewing machines. So wonderful to see the school grow while the circumstances remain difficult in Liberia.
Gbarnga Lutheran Mission is an outstanding organization. We are proud to be sponsors for 4 years now and feel informed about how our contribution is helping children and their families in Liberia.
Jon has always been very transparent with his efforts in Gbarnga. His newsletters always give us insight to what he is doing. We are always grateful to see the faces of the people being directly affected by the Gbarnga Lutheran Mission Project!
I'm a proud supporter and child sponsor of the Gbarnga Lutheran Mission Project in Liberia for many reasons! Not only do the children receive a quality education, but they also eat a nutritious home-cooked on-site lunch every day. The school is dedicated to environmental sustainability and best practices --solar panels power their energy and well-water pump. The school recently added an Eco-stove to the kitchen which reduces deforestation and is safer for the cooks. Vocational training helps students' parents strengthen their skills and financial independence. And I love to receive hand-written letters from the student we sponsor.

I'm a proud supporter of Gbarnga Lutheran Mission Project for several reasons. First and foremost, because its creation was the result of listening to the people of Gbarnga when asked what their primary need was: high quality education for their children. These Liberian families wanted their children to have the opportunity to reach their full potential and access to a local school was critical. Second, the school was built with local hands, and with environmental justice in mind. Solar panels provide the energy source to power new wells so families drink clean water. Third, the goal of the school is sustainability which means vocational training for parents as well as building a poultry farm. I'm grateful for the opportunity to sponsor a student's tuition as I know she is receiving an excellent education and healthy meals. The sponsorship team helps me stay connected with her by exchanging letters and photos. The Gbarna Lutheran Mission is culturally competent and respectful of the local community. They use every donation dollar wisely.
The Gbarnga Lutheran Mission Project is a success story, one that comes out of a strong desire to help others. It is the result of a realized vision, to build a school from the ground up, all the while taking on the obstacles of working in a foreign country. Creativity has abounded since the very beginning, and continues, overcoming every challenge that has surfaced during the years The project’s accomplishments are multi-fold: the establishing of a school, with leadership digging a well to provide fresh water; building a solar-powered electric grid for the campus; teachers trained by educational professionals; a new grade being added every year; health education; fostering agricultural and small farm animal produce; and dedicated and fully committed leadership. And not only is school education addressed, but critical vocational training, as well, bringing about personal worth and independence. The project is, indeed, a remarkable achievement, lifting individuals to new heights, a lifting of humanity.

My wife and I have watched the Gbarnga mission grow and positively impact the lives of many over the years and count ourselves as fortunate to be able to support it our small way. The people associated with mission are some of the best in God's family and deserve our support and admiration.
I have a sponsored child with Gbarnga and it brings me great joy to look at the picture. I know this organization helps children become productive citizens of their country. Transparency is evident in communications from Gbarnga.
There are few charities that my wife and I support that bring us a greater sense of satisfaction and accomplishment than our support for the Gbarnga Mission. Imagine - after clearing brush from an open field ten years ago, there are now over two hundred students experiencing high grade Christian education, a nourishing meal, and basic health assistance. By God's grace, this has been an amazing experience; and by God's Spirit, there is more to come.
(Rev.) Bill Meyer
A wonderful mission for the children of Gbarnga. They provide many wonderful opportunities for the community and all with the love of the Lord.
Over the years we have supported many missions from the large national missions to the smaller missions like Gbarnga Mission. We especially like Gbarnga as it provides for more direct interaction with the staff and children. Their leadership is also top quality.
Gbarnga Mission makes the most of every penny. Where else can a $30 monthly donation feed, educate and provide medical care for a child IN ADDITION to providing clean water for villages, job training for adults, and medical checkups in nearby villages. What's more, is that because of the educational resources and teacher training provided for staff, the students are achieving well beyond their peers in other schools. , The message of Christian Love is woven throughout all the work being accomplished. EXTRAORDINARY.

I recently read the 2019 USAID/Liberia Youth Situational Analysis which documents the greatest challenges facing the youth in Liberia. EVERY issue the youth raise has been addressed with live and professionalism by the board and staff of GLTC. The youth report stated that poorly trained and often corrupt teachers prevent successful schooling. GLTC teachers are well trained in their field and caring towards our students. The youth report stated the need for vocational training so that youth can make a living. At GLTC, we provide vocational training in tailoring, baking, soap making and agriculture. The youth report stated dissatisfaction with teachers and nurses who were unethical, unkind and required bribes. GLTC supports two medical care professionals that travel to nearby villages to assess health and provide care. GLTC Gas also brought clean water pumps to 7 areas significantly impacting health by preventing the “ runny stomach” associated with contaminated water. GLTC continues to foster success and independence while maintaining loving Christian support.
This ministry continues to grow and positively impact the children of Liberia. The leaders are dedicated Christ followers who have put their talents to work to make the world a kinder and stronger place. I am always amazed to see their updates and look forward to supporting them in the future
GLTC is a Christ-centered ministry focused on developing all aspects of a community! Watch the video to see just some of the work God is doing in Gbarnga, Libera.

I have known of GLMP for over 7 years. The reason I keep giving is because I know what the money is doing. I get first-person testimonies from people that actually go there. I receive the newsletter from the mission. I see the photos of the projects and the people, where I can see the progress of the projects and the happiness of the people. One of the best reasons to continue to support this mission is because they are making a generational difference. They are not only improving the lives now of many, many people in Gbarnga, but they are educating the children for the future. They are teaching job skills that allow the people there to support their families. I have gotten more feedback from this mission than any other non-profit I have ever supported. I will continue to support the Gbarnga mission.

Our church has supported this charity for years. As I learned, I became involved first by giving through the church, then helping church members get to the airports for trips, and also taking supplies to Providence, RI, to ship to Gbarnga. I know the missionaries and their focus on bringing the love of Jesus to Gbarnga. I hear the stories directly from the missionaries and know they are making a great impact. The missionaries here in MA know that I am available to help them make the trip. The stories are amazing. Someday, maybe I will be able to make the trip. I hear about the impact from the stories and I see the positive impacts from the photos.
The programs and services that this project supports directly impacts the community--families and children--with life saving (potable water) and life enriching (education).
From almost nothing to now so much more! Unbelievable dedication by the board and staff/team.
The Gbarnga Lutheran Mission is a non-profit organization that is committed to its mission of uplifting the lives of children in need through christain education and vocational training. From where this organization has come from and to where it is today, I will always support it and will appeal to friends to also provide supports.
This is a wonderful, well-run organization that fulfills its mission to share God's love while providing education, community development, economic opportunities ,and healthcare related initiatives to those in great need. I would not hesitate to contribute my dollars, time or talent to this non-profit.
I can't say enough about the Gbarnga Lutheran Mission Project. From it's onset 10 yrs ago, this mission has maintained the utmost integrity, consistency and compassion for people "from every nation, tribe, people and language,- Rev. 7:9". And the beauty of the mission lies with having Christ be the center, integrated into all aspects of each endeavor, which goes far beyond education, to the whole person and community life.
Community: From the onset, this mission did not set out to Americanize this community and "take over", which could have inadvertently diminished the value, beauty and self-sufficiency of the Liberian culture and resources. Instead, a collaboration occurred which involved volunteers to listen and immerse themselves in understanding each other to identify the best ways to help and make an impact. In facing the immensity of the issues, post Civil War and Ebola, this mission has carefully and methodically tackled the many ways to help impact the community at large over an extended period of time.
Relationships: This mission has striven to build and maintain relationships, both with our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ and with each other. There is nothing more beautiful than being engulfed in compassion for each other, which comes at an abundance through the compassion of Christ. Through that, strong relationships have been built at all levels: relationships between leadership in Liberia and the mission and relationships between the actual children and families with their sponsor donors.
Mutual respect: Respect happens best when two parties both humbly give AND receive from each other. This mission not only “gives” to the community, this mission has the humility to receive the gifts, wares and beauty of the culture back to America.
Lastly, whole person/community: This mission did not just focus on a new school and the education process. This mission immersed themselves in engineering a clean water source both for the school and community. The mission is also creating solar power and lighting sources. Mission leadership saw what skills were currently being utilized in the surrounding community and utilized those skills sets in both building the education community and continuing to train new people to enter into the marketplace to create a way of living. All of the focus is to foster sustainability within the Gbarnga community at large. Liberians built the actual structures. Liberians create income producing projects to sustain the community (egg production, farming, guesthouse, blockmaking). Liberians teach both children and adults. This mission focuses on making an impact in adult literacy and adult training for self-sustainability.
In conclusion, I highly recommend this mission when you are considering how you may spread your own compassion, love of Christ and resources available.
The picture attached is our family who supports a youth. We exchange pics and letters regularly and we have received a pictures and letters back from the youth. It's wonderful!

The Gbarnga Lutheran Mission Project is on the front lines of community partnership to bring education, clean water and medical care to rural Liberia. This is a committed organization with effective volunteer leadership in Liberia and the US, so donations are fully leveraged for their intended purpose - to combat poverty and social injustice in a country that has been ravaged by war.
My former Pastor is affiliated with Gbarnga Lutheran Mission Project and I knew immediately it was a ministry I wanted to support. Children hold a very special place in my heart & I am always willing to make a donation to benefit them
I was approached by a childhood friend and church mate. He told me about how a fellow American was helping the youth in the area. He then connected me with another friend from churc who was my Pastor’s son. He also was on the team helping from the USA. Pastor Myer told me about the work being done and I felt I had to help. I have pictures of two students who are all smiles about their opportunities. The curricular is expanding in all the areas the staff believes will help the students.
I am so pleased to witness firsthand the impact of this school program on rural Liberian children and their community. To see the smiles of children and adults who have a new opportunity to learn new information and practice new skills is heartwarming. Staff have jobs they are proud of as they can see the impact of their work and know they have even more value to their families and community. It’s great to see this organization working with the Liberians being respectful of the traditions and culture stressing local leadership. The organization is extremely fiscally responsible. I have traveled with the group providing medical training and support. My time there has made me a better nurse.
It's amazing what has been accomplished in 10 years at this school and training center in the interior of Liberia. Excited to see what happens in the next 10 years. Sponsor a child and your difference will make an impact in a young child's life.
The Board and supporters behind this mission care deeply for the people of Gbarnga, working with the community to learn and grow. Over the past 10 years an overgrown field has become a thriving Christian school where clean water, education, health, and economic opportunity are becoming accessible.

The little village of Deanville has a school for grades K- 4 and growing, a vocational program for adult learners, a poultry farm, and clean running water thanks to the collaboration and friendship built between a team of volunteers from the Gbarnga Lutheran Mission Project and some dedicated Liberians who wanted to make a difference. Lots more to do, but hope grows in this small village in West Africa!
I have watched this non-profit grow from its inception. The school adds a class each year as enrollment increases to accommodate the aging student. They provide meals for the students, health screening, adult education classes and occupational classes like soap making, tailoring and literacy classes. They have also provided clean drinking water to the surrounding communities. They grow vegetables to feed the children and have a chicken farm. Sales of eggs and vegetables help to sustain the school.
Their mission “is to share Gods love as we facilitate Christ-centered education, community development, economic opportunity, and health initiatives in rural Liberia.”

I have been involved with the Gbarnga Mission since it’s inception. We have partnered with Rotary International on three global grants to provide clean water and sanitation for the school, furniture for classrooms, clean drinking water for surrounding communities, solar panels for lighting for adult education in the evening, a chicken farm for sustainability, and mentoring for teachers.
A team from the US led by Jon Rossman regularly goes to Liberia to monitor progress at the school first hand. The team has provided mosquito nets, health and eye clinics, shoes and whatever other needs that have been identified by a community needs assessment.
The enrollment has increased as well as sponsors who help with tuition. We can always use more sponsors so children are not left out.
The evidence of disease that keeps children out of school has decreased as the children receive nourishing meals at the school with clean water availability in school and at home. The mission has provided hand pump wells in the surrounding communities.
It’s a pleasure to work with the Board of Directors and school personnel as God guides us to make more improvements in the spiritual and educational lives of these children.
GLTC is a Christian centered organization working collaboratively with remote villages in Gbarnga, Liberia, Africa. Having served twice in the past 2 years at their thriving site, I have personally experienced how their mission of providing Christian education, economic opportunities and health initiatives is improving the lives of the children and families in nearby disadvantaged villages. Over 150 children ages 3 to 17 attend the progressive school where they are not only taught the basics, but more importantly learn critical thinking. They are being provided with clean water and nutritious meals during school which is often their only meal each day. Women of the community learn trades including tailoring, chicken farming, soap making and baking. As a nurse I coordinated health teams who provide health care to all the students, staff and local communities; primarily malaria, intestinal parasites, infections, skin and respiratory care, etc. Health education is provided to students and families in areas of infection control, women’s health and malaria prevention. It has been a privilege serving with this organization and sharing God’s love and I intend to return to Gbarnga regularly to build on this work.
This is an amazing organization bringing education to rural Liberia. We visited this site about 4 1/2 years ago when our son was serving in the Peace Corps in Liberia, and we were impressed with the physical facility. At that time, they just had children up to grade 2, but they have added more grades since then. The school is impressive and is making a huge difference in the lives of the students and the adults in the surrounding community.
I have supported a student at this school for at least 5 years and am impressed with the efforts made to educate the whole child and his family. The teachers receive ongoing training from skilled U.S. teachers and volunteer U.S. nurses continue working with health related issues. Not only does the mission employ local people to work within the mission, but they train these people and provide training for other local adults. The leaders work with local people to teach everyday skills (farming, nutrition, well building, and hygiene) which are useful to the whole community. This mission has a goal of supporting all aspects (spiritual, educational, vocational, and healthy living) of the lives of the people with whom they come in contact.
I get the biggest kick out of receiving pictures of my student and watching him grow throughout the years. What a blessing for this young man to attend this school. The newsletters are very interesting in that tell the stories of local people who help make this school successful. I am so jealous of the volunteers many whom I am aquainted with. I wish I could volunteer but alas I am along in years.
The Gbarnga Mission is an amazing story. Prompted by Liberian refugees that came to the USA during their country's civil war, a Christian day school was started for rural Liberians back home. The school currently has 134 students, 60 adults in vocational classes, and 10 teachers - with the 5th grade added this year. A nutritional meal is provided which, for some, is the only meal they have each day. Vocational training is available for adults.
Jon & his staff have done an amazing job with their mission to the children & families in Gbarnga! Besides the school building, learning to make bricks for new buildings, farming chickens for a steady food supply of eggs, the team is bringing education & the learning of Jesus into their lives!
I have watched the Gbarnga Lutheran Training Center develop from the very beginning. I’m so impressed with the campus, the staff, the classes being offered and the number of children and adults being served. Their outreach to the community is heartwarming.
I can see that my contributions are being well used and I appreciate their newsletter informing me of their activities. I plan to continue my support each year. They are making a difference in many lives.
Wonderful ministry. We have watched our sponsored child grow from a little girl to a beautiful young woman. The progress made on the compound and school is amazing. The classes and resources for adults and the community is astounding.
The Batchelder’s
Here is a way to help so many children with nutrition, education and more. The administrators and educators are amazing role models that are totally dedicated to the well being of not only the children but also their parents. One only has to witness the enthusiasm for learning displayed by the children and that of the teachers to see why this school has been such a success. But do not forget the amazing vision and devotion of the president and his team, without their dedication this project would not be the success it is.
Gbarnga Mission has been a great charity to work with. They are very good at responding to questions and keeping in touch with sponsors. I have enjoyed being able to send items to Liberia and knowing they will be used by the kids and school staff.
Great cause helping children in Liberia. I'm sponsoring a boy to get an education at this wonderful school. Will you consider sponsoring a child at a cost that is less than your monthly cellphone bill? It's a great donation to a great school.
This is a great organization, very transparent and communicative so that we know how our dollars are working to help children learn.
One of my favorite mission groups!
We have been donating since early on with this project. Hearing the vision, watching it get started, and seeing it succeed with God's blessing has been wonderful. This is an amazing project that now serves so many children and yet so many adults too. Education, jobs, food, water, solar, farming, brick making, spiritual leadership, medical/health and so much more. We continue to support this project financially and with prayers. I encourage others to do the same.
The Gbarnga Lutheran Mission Project does important work for a community in need and what continues to impress me is not only what they do, but how they do it. Every program is thoughtfully planned and revised with great care and compassion for people. To maintain empowerment as a core priority is a difficult yet critical line to tread as a nonprofit yet vocational training, literacy classes, and fair wages have proven successful. Gbarnga Mission is a leading and honest example of how holistic care, empowerment, and education can be achieved in developing nations. The groundwork and genuine commitment of their leaders and the excellence they require have allowed GLTC to grow and flourish in its community near Gbarnga, Liberia. The framework since the start in 2014 has been to add one grade of students each year as students age up in the school. This plan allows Gbarnga Mission to grow at an accessible rate to donors while maintaining the high quality necessary to make any mission successful in the long-term. This is one of many brilliant ideas that facilitated the addition of a variety of educational, economic, and health programs. I am confident that the commitment of the President of Gbarnga Mission, the board, donors, and GLTC staff, students, and community members will all continue to work together towards a bright future for Gbarnga, Liberia in the years to come.
